Tarot cards have been representative of the metaphysical for a very long time. These mysterious cards have been the focus of most psychic readings that I've ever been involved with. On this episode, we take a look at just what the Tarot is, how it works and even answer some questions from the audience, thanks to the talents of Daniel Maday!Questions tackled: Are the cards really a connection with spirits or are they just random? Will I get a promotion at work?Should Jamin from Fairfax continue with her current contract or look some something  else? Will Leslie's husband be more faithful in the future? Will Karen be moving back home an time soon? Will Chris' family have to deal with health problems?Should Jamin buy a house this year or wait till next year?Apologies to Nina, who's question was to general in nature to be included. Promise to have you on to answer your question specifically on a later show.Daniel Maday is a part time tarot reader out of Chicago.  In his day jobs, he teaches organizational psychology, specializing in training and development, strategy, and personnel psychology.  He also delivers pizza part time on his moped, runs the business side of The Ozymandias Project LLC. His tarot practice comes from a place of discovery, having started back in 2019 after learning how to do readings from a friend.  While he mostly lives in the world of science and business, he uses tarot as a tool for personal exploration with others and approaches readings as a fun exercise that allows for us to reflect and connect in a dynamically different way than we often do in our day to day lives. Readings can be entertaining and comedic in nature, as well as deep and emotional, and often end up being a combination of the two.He does offer tarot readings by request, and anyone interested can reach out to him via social media or email him. Will: my name is will, and I like molded from the X-Files want to believe. So I've embarked on a journey of discovery. I've talked to people deeply entrenched in the spiritual world at thrown myself into weird and wonderful experiences. I've even joined a coven of witches. All in the interest of finding something, anything that will prove that there's something beyond this physical three-dimensional world we all live in.

This is the skeptic metaphysician. Welcome back to the show. I'm will your hosts today? It's all about the Touro for the last week or so we've been soliciting questions from the audience for my guests to answer with a little help from the spirits in the form of a deck of tarot cards. We'll be answering those a little later on the show, but first.

I'd be remiss if I didn't introduce my guests since he's so graciously offered to do these readings for our audience, his name is Daniel . Mayday Mayday. I knew I was at up, correct?

Daniel Maday: No worries.

Will: He's a part-time tarot reader out of [00:01:00] Chicago in his day jobs. Yep. You heard that right. Plural day jobs. He teaches organizational psychology, specializing in training and development strategy and personnel psychology.

He also delivers pizza part-time on his moped, which is actually my dream job and runs the business side of the Ozymandias project, LLC. More on that. Soon is troll. Practice comes from a place of discovery. Having started back in 2019 after learning how to do readings from a friend, while he mostly lives in a world of science and business, he uses tarot as a tool for personal exploration with others and approaches readings as a fun exercise that allows for us to reflect and connect in a dynamically different way than we often do in our day-to-day lives.

That is a mouthful, but so, so, pertinent. His readings can be entertaining and comedic in nature, or they can be deep and emotional. And from what I understand, quite often, they end up being a combination of the two. So I am very much looking forward to our [00:02:00] conversation. I am happy to welcome Daniel to the show.

Daniel, thank you so much for coming on and being willing to talk to us about the DRO.

Daniel Maday: Yes. Hello. Hello. Glad to be here.

Will: Well, then let's start with the basics first and foremost. The, we know now that you are part-time tarot reader and where you got the inspiration from what specifically drew you to the Turo,

Daniel Maday: really a curiosity and seeking understanding.

It was something that was always a mystery to me. I'd see it advertised on a neon sign here or there downtown, or have some little side alley, you know, something in a farmer's market. And. It was this enigma that never made sense to me until somebody just said, oh, let's try it. And I assumed there'd be a lot more detail, you know, birth charts and all of that.

And frankly, just doing a little bit more research for acquired, but we, we jumped into it and it really was a connection in the moment. And, and from there, it clicked with a lot of other experiences I had as soon as enough in the teaching and business world.

Will:  To your point, when we first talking about having you [00:03:00] come on the show, my first questions to you were, well, what do you need?

You need birth dates. You need where they were born. Where did you know what courses the way he says, no, I just need the question, man. Just relax. Right. So, a lot of people don't really understand how the troll works. What can you tell us about the tarot deck?  How does it work

Daniel Maday: to put in very personal terms. I enjoy games and simulations as a research area and just as a fun thing. So I'll do a lot of things like Dungeons and dragons and a concept they often have is that you need a arcane focus or implement just like a wizard might have a staff or a wan. You find Harry Potter.

Some people might have an orb or a crystal or something. I approached taro as a tool. The cars themselves don't have truth, but rather are a focus for us to maybe see and consider what the future, the past or just alternative perspectives could be. It's a way for us to center ourselves and then think beyond ourselves.

Will:   Some people think that there is spirits speaking through the deck. Other people think that it's your own personal, higher self kind of tuning in psychically [00:04:00] to the energies and getting the answers from the universe. W how do you sit on that fence?

Daniel Maday: You know, I think there's a lot of different ways to practice it.

I could say the same thing for comedy or the same thing for cooking. Sometimes there's a very clear recipe to how to follow and you think. This is what it calls this scientific reaction. Other times it has to be that inspiration of the moment. And I actually even mentioned comedy because for me, you can write jokes.

You can have a bit more of an asynchronous approach, but my personal preference is to have that in the moment connection. So I try not to have kind of written prompts and questions for most of every Dean's where I don't know the person at all, and I'm going in blind. And the big thing is they don't get that feedback.

Cause they're going to have a touch and go it is a mutual process. But that said, if I don't know anything about a person, I just meet them up as a stranger. I actually love meeting with them. And then either over phone or video we will just go through and ask them some basic questions. My approach is also a bit different.

[00:05:00] I know it can be very daunting for people and with people in certain expectations to try to give them that. But for the most part, I just try to make it accessible. To have somebody curious, try it out.

Will: So, have you I know it's not fair to say like what, what your success rate is, but have you had, have you had people say to you, wow, you just blew my mind or no, dude, this is it's nothing as nothing to do with what I, when I asked you, like, how does, how do you feel when things like that happened?

Daniel Maday: Both. Both. And I, feel it both ways. I'm a big empath in general. Honestly though, I actually appreciate it. When people tell me if a reading is a mess, it means that we're being honest.  I'm still always learning and growing with this and getting that feedback when things don't work as vital to me.

There's people that just kind of say, like, I'm just not failing it. This just wasn't me. And you know, I'm going to analyze it later on and suss it out. But that keeps it real to me. I want people to tell me because sometimes you can kind of get a placebo effect and.  Sometimes that's all it is, [00:06:00] but I don't want people willing themselves to thinking it's something more than it is.

On the other side. I have people who often, often will say, they're kind of in a joking manner of feeling personally. And I'm like, oh my God, what are you doing? And we just met like, hold on. I like it. But also this is creepy, but also I'm interested.

Will:  I fallen on both camps, right? Like I mentioned in my intro and I speak to on every show just about I really want to believe that this stuff is real right?

That, that you're really reaching into a part that is providing answers. But the skeptical part of me thinks, well, could this just be kind of a shot in the dark? , and really a lot of times, I'm not sure if it really matters, honestly, as long as it speaks to you to your point. And then it's all good.

And a lot of times, some people might say, no, that's a miss. And then, you know, day or two later, they realize, oh my God, I totally forgot. This is what that meant. Or I've interviewed people before where they said that there is no time in the spiritual world. So you may are getting a message ahead of time before you're [00:07:00] supposed to.

And then later on a week or two later, it hits you. That's what the message was meant. I was meant to get it now instead of, you know, two weeks from now.

Daniel Maday: Yeah. Yeah. And it's funny, I come from kind of a science background. So it might be, it's a bit strange to say, but the more I've learned about science, the more open to possibility and skepticism I've become largely because in studying cognition, perception, psychology, you've learned that what we understand as time is really series of inputs and.

We know that it can be so fluid. We've all had an experience of a day that just flies by and others that drag on. And I experienced quite a bit of that due to a number of reasons. Partially just our zoom lives these days, but we'll have weeks that just fly by as a blur, but then you'll have an hour that stretches on forever.

And usually it's when I'm in a different creative focusing space, like having a massage or even just a nice long shower.

Will: And  back in the day everyone thought the earth was flat. I guess some people still, do think that.  But my point is  that science is constantly evolving.

We don't know what we don't know. So [00:08:00] what, this could be a psychic census could very easily be explained by science, you know, 10 years from now or tomorrow. You just never know. Yeah, exactly.  I know there are certain people listening to this. Podcasts right now that are just like, shut up and get to my question.

Right. So let's get to it if you don't mind. Yeah. Let's go ahead and ask a couple of questions. I might pepper in some other things in between them, but since it's my show I have to be selfish. Now I have to ask my question  so I'm up for promotion at work.

And I'm curious what the possibility might be of me securing that promotion, or if it's just not meant for me, what what do you get from that?

Daniel Maday: Sure. So, I actually have my cards right here. Would you want to do a quick, short reading? I would love to. Absolutely. That'd be great. Great.

And then just for clarity here is this a hypothetical or is this a real consideration you have, this

Will: is an actual consideration. I am up for a promotion and I I'm hoping that my coworkers don't listen to the show, but if you do listen to the show surprise I've had an interview already [00:09:00] in it.

But I felt it went fairly well. But you just never know it. It is kind of a shot in the dark. It's a position quite a bit above my pay grade and I love to get it, but I know I'm up against some fairly serious competition. So I'm, I'm just curious to deceive you if you feel anything.

Daniel Maday: Got it.

And just for my full understanding, is this something where you already complete the interview and are having more steps in the selection process or the wait and see side?

Will:  I've gone through two steps of the process. I believe from what I, my understanding is at least two more to go.

So right now I'm just waiting to hear whether or not I move forward to the next step or not.

Daniel Maday: Got it. And I asked, because you may want to release this after that selection process is finished.

Will: Very good point. Yep. Absolutely. And that was my,   intention. Yeah. I'll hold this for

Daniel Maday: a little bit.

Anyway. Can't be questioned by HR. If your company asking if I had an undue influence.

Will: I'll take it any way I can get it.

Daniel Maday: Yeah. Yeah. And since we're on audio medium you of course can see a few things here in my screen. I'm going to be laying out a few cards. You can see them here. There's plenty of different decks that are used for things [00:10:00] in usually it's a difference of art style and just the overall kind of energy or emotion you're going for.

So there are some classic decks that look quite dated and old, a very similar, kind of a medieval classical style almost. Mine's been more updated Colby theorial vision spy. Matt Hughes is the artist and this is not what gorgeous, well, I was going to show it to you. You can see it's a little shiny thing here.

And that's beautiful high level. All you're going to know is that there's two major types of cards. There is major Arcana, I think like face cards and a plain duck, you know, you're king or queen your check. And then there are minor Arcana. Those are your numbered cards, you know, instead of a 10 of spades or a five of hearts here, we have.

The Pentacles, the swords, the cups, things like that. And those actually connotate to other things and different readers. I usually try to see those just general elements and those are tied to other themes and ideas. So for instance Pentacles, I believe are more commonly [00:11:00] construed as earth. And that's assigned to wealth economics, things like that.

You know, hearts, meanwhile, tend to be a bit more emotional and relationship focused. But of course the reading can have different intents. So what you did is you asked me a little bit and I'm going to show you the Howard's. I have a lead out here Normally at a table, I would kind of lay them out and I do a very kind of standard set, especially for first time people, which I kind of call a three by three layout. And all that is is just three cards laid out almost kind of like little cell and four, you asked me here, you want to know more about where you're going with this promotion.

So just to kind of distill that a bit further, we can do something very simple where it can just answer with kind of one card. And just try to give you a bit more of a direct response, or if you want to explore it a bit more broadly, you can pick three cards and I can do things such as a push, a poll and a focus.

So try to identify what is pushing you towards things. What is pulling you maybe away and where we can maybe focus November perspective [00:12:00] and another common one is past present and future for people who are looking for guidance Plenty of other relationships, specific ones for things like work here, I would say you can have kind of a boon, a bane to kind of a positive and negative.

And then have a question actually. I know have it be the counterintuitive, but sometimes in places like this, answering our questions with questions can be helpful. So, along those lines do you have any preference for a one or a three card draw?

Will: I always like to have as much information as I can.

So I think I probably err on the side of the three-card versus a one just so that we make it a little bit more interesting.

Daniel Maday: Got it. And then for the type of guidance you're looking for, do you, maybe you want to do that? Push Paul, the Boone and the Bain. What are you thinking of?

Will: I'm thinking the push polls sounded more

Daniel Maday: interesting.

Great. Well then next step here is you just tell me which cards you want to pick. So I'll have my hands here. If you can help kind of see it on the camera. But you can just say, you know, bottom left corner, top right corner, that center. Just tell me which one you want to pick. And the order does matter, [00:13:00] but don't stress about it.

Will: Okay. I I've had already selected three cards and that was the upper left, right? Yeah, that one. That one's the first one. Yep. Yep. Then right next to it was the second here. Yep. And the, and the third was the bottom, right? So here down.

Daniel Maday: Correct. All right. So go ahead and shuffle these back into the deck.

And the deck is a bit larger than a standard plain deck, I suppose, to 80 cars instead of your usual 52, that's a slight difference. And then. We have your cards here and when we read the cards, it can come off a few different ways because they're going to be upright or reversed and that'll have not a positive or a negative connotation, but like to think about as a left or right focus, it's not. Good or bad. It's just an inverse usually. And this is interesting combination here because you actually have one minor Arcana card, which is reversed.

It's [00:14:00] the nine of swords. And then for the next two, you have the devil, which has major Arcana, and there's a lot of condoms patients there. I see your face. And that's upright. And then you have temperance, which is reversed. Which I will say this is a very interesting combination in the study of work here, because it's, you know, maybe feel a bit uncomfortable, 18, maybe a bit extreme, but I assure you, it makes a little bit more sense.

So in full disclosure, I do have a book here. All the taro ducks usually come with a small book, has a little bit of a guide. And really what it is is just a way for us to help kind of categorize things, kind of start off. Some people will claim that you need to memorize this to read or even interpret things.

But I like to just read it out loud, especially for newcomers as a disclosure. So the first thing here we have is the nine of swords and that's where it reversed. can be related to objectivity.

Perception, recovery and revelation. And if you recall, before we said, this is a push pull and a focus. So [00:15:00] taking just a moment here to settle on this one individually the reverse known storage is going to tell us that some of the things that are pushing you, perhaps the reason why you're looking for this promotion, looking for this next step are.

You know, when we look it up activity in revelation, it is making a change in making a big step. I don't really actually know that much about you met online through a podcast group and I intentionally tried not to research you too much, so it could go into this blind and I don't know, formed. And with that, I would say that when it comes to the push.

You were kind of coming at the end of the height of kind of the pandemic era. People are looking to make changes and they're looking to shake things up from where they were. So I'm going to guess that from what you're describing here, that the level of the shift is that you have been in your role for quite some time.

And part of the push that's really propelling you to this space is to challenge yourself. And in that you are trying to be objective. You're trying to be separate. [00:16:00] I saw you kind of distancing all I'm not that qualified or there's competition, but I think that. It's part of a process. And you know, we see that mention of revelation.

It may be as simple as just accepting that you are worthy and capable of more. So I want to leave that there.  go to go to the other two and then we'll kind of do a quick wrap up of all three and I show you my responses to other questions will be shorter. So just to give you the reading so of course the spicy one as I like to say is the devil and a lot of us might feel immediate connotation as they were at the, yeah, not real pleased to see that card.

I'll tell you that, flip these around just so you can see them a bit better in your end. Cause this one is upright for you. don't worry, there's a card that does say death and people fear that one too. What is it again? Not as bad as you think.

Will: Yeah. I'm not sure which one I'd prefer actually.

So

Daniel Maday: when we go to look at the devil and the devil upright, some things are connected to this, our addiction, obsession control and materialism. [00:17:00] Hmm. And from what you've told me again, the unlimited information here, but this is the pole. And the pole, isn't always exactly the things we want, but can often encapsulate what our fears, our concerns can be.

So getting the definitely here kind of makes sense that this is the worries. We probably have the anxieties and I frankly, don't want to make too many assumptions around the topic of addiction. I know it can be very sensitive for many people, but you know, these things about obsession control materialism.

Strangely enough, when it comes to looking at the devil, it is of larger conversation that a lot of the problems that are constraining us are illusions. It is our own fears and anxieties that can consume us in this, especially at work. This is definitely true. And I would imagine in this kind of selection, promotion, process uh, worries and fears of I'm trying to control everything I can to be the best possible [00:18:00] candidate.

And you're now almost worried where if you get it. It's going to be a whole new level. You're going to be probably getting a huge pay bump in compensation and along the lines, you might feel like you have to work even harder to earn it. Whereas on the other end, if you get rejected, the worry is. You'll feel less in control because you try to do something better, but you realize that ultimately it's the hiring team.

It's the higher ups that control your life. And you've put in all this time and effort, we're taking a big, challenging step leap forward. And if you get to night, it feels like a loss of control. Cause you put it all out there and got rejected. So the poll polling us towards these emotions is not telling us that you should be giving into that pole.

Recognizing it's there and understanding it. So that's the kind of middle there. And then lastly, we are going to get over to the focus  the last one here is 10 prints. And for your case here, temperance was reversed. [00:19:00] Which again, might sound a bit odd with the devil coming into the last one and we have that dimension of addiction, but again, there's a little bit more nuance here.

So the reverse of temperance is going to be related to competition, frustration, access and imbalance. Again, don't be scared. Okay. I'm going to put these in context and when it comes to those. This totally makes sense. It's our focus. It's what we want to think about in this selection process. You're competing for a promotion with other people you're in competition for sure.

You were going to do a feel frustration, no matter what, if anything, it'll be frustration in the waiting period. And then there's the access and the imbalance. We will certainly probably be drinking a bit more coffee than usual. We'll be worrying more in general. We'll feel like we have to catch up on our normal work and be a superstar employee.

Because this is an internal hire. So. It's not just what you're doing in the interview room, but everything else has to be perfect. And then that last bit there is imbalance, but remember, all of this is focus. This is not advice of what you should or should not do, but [00:20:00] instead it's a suggestion to, maybe you look at this and for the folks in particular, think about what imbalance are having right now.

From an organizational psychology standpoint, I'm going to step outside of my taro hat for a second. There's healthy and balanced. There's healthy conflict. And we'd expect that certainly during a application process, the question and kind of the Cole here with the cards is when we focus on this imbalance in this process, how long does it last?

Where does it come from? And importantly, Regardless of the outcome, as difficult as that might seem, where do we find balance? Is the imbalance in the organization? Is it internal and some other questions we want to ask? So tying this altogether, we have some interesting pushes in polls. We might feel, this big challenge, this big and Bishop moving forward, but we're also getting polled by our fears.

And as we focus. We see this whole thing in a state of flux. So in generally it put this all together to say [00:21:00] that understandably, you're nervous about this. You might even say you'd be concerned if you weren't nervous. But we want to take these things to guide you to really think honestly about where we are.

How do we feel the last time you applied for a promotion? Or how do we feel when we first applied to this job? That may have been a while, maybe a bit hard to think about that, but how quickly we forget those past stresses sometimes to make room for the new ones.

Will: Well, I will say a lot of what you said was dead on.

I have been at this position for a long time, a lot longer than I've been in any other position. I do sense quite a bit of impatience frustration with the process with the fact that I'm still in this position for as long as I have been. But the fact that I'm now finding myself in-patient with the whole process is, you know, you got all that dead

Daniel Maday: on. Yeah. And the, and the larger question is, are we seeking this promotion as a solution or as a goal?

Will:  The interesting thing is that you mentioned there was fear around that the fact is I'm afraid to get the [00:22:00] promotion.

I'm afraid of it, but for lots of different reasons, but I'm also afraid not to get it. So, you were dead on also in the fact that if I get it I will probably have to work a lot harder a lot more if I don't get it, I'm going to feel really bad about myself. Right. So there's yeah. There's a lot of truth in that.

The skeptic in me says, well, you know, that's, that's probably true of anybody who's applying for a position. Right. But what caught my attention about what you said was the very first thing was that we don't know each other, you have no idea how long I've been in this position, but the fact that you said that I'd been in my position for a long time I don't think there's any way that you could have known that.

So that immediately got my attention. So, I'm excited that you said that.

Daniel Maday: Yeah. And again, skeptic in me would explain that as I could somehow pick up the intonation in your voice, and you could explain that the practice of tarot is setting this up. Places when you set and manage expectations, the same you would in the business world.

And you can define those little tricks to take things up. It's often what people will call many magic tricks, slight of hand or [00:23:00] illusions. So you can explain those things. All it comes down to perception, and I'm not here to say that this is true magic or SL you know, bull honky. But to focus on the experience.

Will: great point when I wanted to make earlier. And I didn't. So I'm glad that you brought it up now. This is no way meant to be a, an answer to your question. This is not saying, Hey, if whatever Daniel says is what you absolutely have to take as, as gospel, in fact, I urge you not to,  this is a way of exploring opportunities, but don't take this as an absolute recommendation of a direction to take, because.

That wouldn't be fair to Daniel or to yourself. So keep that in mind.

Daniel Maday: And I do have to toss in the quick disclaimer, I have a number of corporate and academic affiliations. My thoughts are my own and do not represent any other organizations in this capacity and really consider my responses over answers.

Will: Yeah, thank you. Same with me. I, in no way, [00:24:00] this, this show represent my employer or anyone that I work with is purely me in my passions, so. Okay. You you want to take a, another question?

Daniel Maday: Let's go. Okay.

Will: So I've got someone by the name of Nina. From Virginia, who basically says she just wants a three-card pole and let the cards guide, she doesn't really have a specific question.

Is that something that you, you would feel comfortable doing?

Daniel Maday: Honestly, it's a, it's a bit too general to do asynchronously. I would need a little bit more direction. I could start with that, certainly if it was just you and I, and then asked you a few clarifying questions but a three-card poll with that without a focus.

And all I have is, is the name that's a little bit too blind.

Will: Okay. Sorry, Nina. We'll have to do it another time. We'll actually have you on the show. You can ask him directly. So then moving on to the next one, I have someone here by the name of Jami. From Fairfax. And she says that her contract is up in September.

She liked to get a new job, but wants to know how it would go. So I'm assuming that she has an option, whether to [00:25:00] continue or to up the contract or to get a different job. That's how, that's what I'm getting from that. So she wants to know whether she should try to get a different job or stick with the one that she's got.

Daniel Maday: Understood. Okay. And with that, I try not to give, a direct yes, no answer, but what I'll do here is what I like to call it kind of tapping this is personally my own practice. It's not any terminologies as I think, but this is where I'll just do a quick kind of tap into the cards where just quickly I'm drawing one out.

To help guide my response, because again, I, I don't know these people, this is kind of coming out of the blind. So please, as you get this answer listener well let me know what you think about it. So you can see me, I'm just shuffling my cards. And for this one, since I tried to let the receiver of the answer choose, because I think that has an input.

I'll just pull one from the top of the deck here.

And the question is whether or not to leave their job or stay where they are. And was there a specific position they had in mind or just in general, looking for a change?

Will: I think in general, whether she continues with the conduct she currently has or tries to secure a different one [00:26:00] at the different companies.

That's, that's the impression that I got.

Daniel Maday: Okay. So what am drew here is the sun reversed and the sun reversed is going to be coded to selfishness, egotistical sadness and depression. Hmm. I know, probably not. We wanted to hear but to put this in context, I would say to answer your question about answering your question, you need to look at why you're asking this question.

Why are you considering this in the first place? Listen to the emotions that you have. Cause it seems like we are probably suppressing things, particularly with the son who reversed that is an eclipse. We are hiding in the shadow of something, trying to look at it, but it's clearly obscured. So is the question really is not the contract seek bigger, but more internally, ask yourself the hard question that you probably won't be able to answer is.

Where do you want to be instead? You know, we might have our goal to answer that question, but a question I really advise you to look at is truly where am I? And do I fit into that? And in defining [00:27:00] yourself that contract negotiation, whether it's the same organization or going somewhere else in knowing yourself, a lot of those answers will become clear because once you're certain about that, You can look at all the details and see this pay.

Isn't fair. I am three to five years to parents. I am this degree. What have you but you'll see very clearly once you know yourself, you can just react to the other external factors.

Will: I hope that you got what you needed from that. Remember this is not a yes or no.

, this is guidance that comes from a pull of a cart. So take that for what it was. Please

Daniel Maday: give us your reactions. Yeah,

Will: absolutely. Yeah, absolutely. And at the end of the show, I will let you know how you can reach out to, to us to give us that feedback. So stick around. Okay. I've got Leslie .

From Arizona.  She asks, will my husband be he faithful. He had an affair and promised it's over, but I have trust issues. What do you have to say to Leslie?

Daniel Maday: Great question. And again, I can't give a yes or a no here but I'll do a similar approach.

I'm going [00:28:00] to draw from the cards and I already have some inklings here. It's going to try not to let that cloud my judgment too much. But it influences that I acknowledged that. So I'm just shuffling again here. and, and for those listening, you may have heard I've taken some deep breaths. I actually closed my eyes and generally saw the energy as I taken that question, really think and internalize and focus on it so that when I reveal the card, the answer kind of comes clearly. I kind of go through with that. interesting thing there is, I just pulled strength and this is upright.

So a lot of major Arconic hearts today. That's just how the deck was feels. It feels like going, and that's just how it goes. Sometimes.

Will: Strength , in the context of this question, I would think sounds or seemed like it would be a positive outcome or a positive thought.

Daniel Maday: Yeah. And, with that some themes with a strength or inner calm, courage control in patients.

And the two things I really like this respondent to think about is courage and [00:29:00] patience. They asked about if their husband will be faithful, That's not a yes or no. It's also not an answer in time. It's a practice every day. And I think the two balances here is there was an affair that was part of the context and they say that they're not going to do it again.

It's over, but we need to be patient on both ends for where that goes forward. We need to wait and see. How do we feel? Let's say good case scenario. Yes. He doesn't do anything. He's learned his lesson. That's only part of it. And how many apologies, how many actions needed to be done to correct for that? I can't fully answer that for you, but B misplace of courage.

And this is a weird silver lining. I don't know the full context, but I don't know how the affair came to light. But that you're continuing to talk about it and work on it is a good sign. And it's something that both of you will have to continue to get out of your comfort space, try these new things and be bold.

And these conversations, knowing that as much, if you want immediate answers and changes, these [00:30:00] things take time. And yeah, good thing is that when we make these changes, even though they've take time, they become more sustainable and they last. So when we're questioning, if someone's gonna be faithful, I would say, think about what you really want out of that faithfulness.

Is it simply not having other affairs or is it you want them to show something in the romantic elements, relationship, show them perhaps if they're a parent with you take charge in that way, be more connected, be more present. But I think the biggest thing here is be brave. But be patient.

Will: Excellent.  Okay. Heading back to Virginia, Karen in Virginia asks we moved to Virginia many years ago.

Planning to only stay for two years. Will we ever move home? It's been a long time.

Daniel Maday: Good question. Good question.  I have been in Chicago land my whole life from Chicago for the last 10 years. Plus. And that, that question of home is one. I think we all deal with a [00:31:00] lot you know, probably many elicits will say, oh, I've got family in Chicago. It's a very, very common experience.

So Karen, will you ever be home? Well, I'm going to tell you, as I always say, I can't, we have a lot to our major cons today. Don't freak out the card you drew was death, which is always one of the most interesting draws.

Death reversed is connected to resistance, stagnation, immobility, and obsession.

Hmm. Which. It might be a bit again, confusing and surprising, but  look, death. Isn't this bad, scary thing. It doesn't mean that you're going to die or suffer. It is the harbinger of transformation. It is change. And I think it's very apropos actually here because the death isn't of you or of life, it is of 90

you're home. You may have been some adjustments to be home, but you are home. People say home is where you make it, but it's an active choice and an active practice. I can tell you you're home already, but it may be quite some time until you feel it. You also might change where your home [00:32:00] is and you might change that in the future, but.

When we think about those things, is it that we are being resistant to calling it home, to letting go of an old home and having a new home, having multiple definitions of home. Do you feel stagnant  or are you comparing it to perhaps the fact that we've been locked inside our houses for the last year, we feel very immobile feeling we can't leave.

The idea of home for all of us has transformed. What I want you to start thinking of is you already have been home. The question is, is this the home you want? We can always change our home and improve our home, but you're already there.

Will: Great answer. That's a great, that's a really great point. . Okay. Moving right along. We've got Chris in Florida is asking will anyone in my family have health issues? Hmm. I think the question itself posing the question kind of answers the question to my head, but,

Daniel Maday: Yeah.

Yeah. So just a moment for us to shut these guys up.

And the deck is feeling and wants to give vague answers, be keeping these major Arcana the cards and cards, just [00:33:00] doing what they want. And as fate would have it, I drew another major CADA. This is really the thing is I try to be a skeptic and scientific about this, but just statistics. It is wild to me.

How I get some of these and what they drew Chris in Florida is the world.  The themes for the world are regret incompletion, lack of closure and doubt.  The world reversed is regret and complete lack of closure doubt. And with that, there's worry. There's doubt. There's there's wonder are army family doing the right things? Are they taking care of themselves? I don't want to assume too much, but I recognize you're in Florida and times are interesting there.

Always, but especially now with the coronavirus, with the start of summer, a lot of people traveling in and out and just life in Florida can be very unique compared to other places myself in Chicago. The doubt though comes into again, are we doing the right things? Are [00:34:00] we preparing for what happens?

But along with health, there are things way beyond our control that can have profound impacts. Morbid, but realistic car accidents happen all the time. We can get food poisoning from our favorite restaurant, these bad things can happen, and we cannot live thinking about what we can do to prevent them.

So to answer your question in a very roundabout way I'll be very blunt. Your family is going to have health problems. The true question I think you're asking is. How can I support them? And the answer is very simple. It is being there and combating that doubt that uncertainty by showing what you can control, you can control good habits, encouraging them to drink water, taking care of themselves, having healthy food and all that.

And especially right now resting, that can be very difficult for a lot of us. And allowing ourselves to rest in, in your case, it might be allowing yourself to rest from trying to worry about your [00:35:00] family. You can't control them.

Will: In fact,

Daniel Maday: Sorry for the siren in the distance.

Will: No, the timing of that was pretty immaculate.

I would say you're talking about health cards. Absolutely. All right. I want to do one more question so let's go ahead and take gentleman actually in Fairfax had a second question and this is a good one to close out with, I think is this a good time to buy a house?

Or should she be patient and wait for another year? She's asking whether she should go ahead and take the plunge on purchasing a house this year or whether she should wait, what are you thoughts?

Daniel Maday: So again, I'm deferring to the deck here. Cause that that's a question I personally, couldn't give you the answer to, if you just asked me as a, as a human if you can tap with the cards here as a, as a little bit of guidance and that's, that's why people do it is they don't know the answer.

So this is a thing they can return to look a mirror almost right.

Will: Another major Archana.

Daniel Maday: Oh, well the funny part is you saw [00:36:00] me shuffle them. You probably heard me shuffle them. The cart, I just polled. Previously it was the world reversed. Yes, I have just pulled the world upright.

Will: Wow. What are the, what are the odds of that?

Daniel Maday: Oh, one in 168. Oh, well D and D fans. That's the less rare than getting a double credit.

That is, that is a crazy So the tags and get with the world upright, our completion satisfaction, travel in fulfillment. So is that it's the right time to buy a house? The question I always give any question is why, what's the purpose of buying the house? Is this buying a new home? Or do you already have a home or a house or property that you're operating?

Are you looking at as an investment opportunity or is a life-stage? I'm going to Wade, yours, probably the latter, but correct me if I'm wrong. But I would say. Is it the right time to buy a [00:37:00] house? I mean, you can look at the financial analysts and  the markets and depending on where specifically you're looking, it's a mess right now.

The market is very turbulent. Lots of highs and lows. What I will say is not yes or no, but I'll say to go with satisfaction, satisfaction, meaning you feel. Calm and certain about your decision. You're not a static. You're not going to the moon about this. And maybe that's what you were hoping for, but you want something that has that slope or that Amber, that you feel you feel good about.

We, we can easily get trapped into the, oh my God. Look at this big giant. How is it's got this and that we've got the Whirlpool tub. We've got the skylight. It's, it's like a big, shiny car, but shiny cars wear off and you will find yourself more often than not buying something like a Honda civic. And I don't drive.

So my car now, these aren't great, but you have a car that is dependable. You have something that you feel comfortable and it just makes sense. You're [00:38:00] satisfied with it. You may not be recommended to everyone else or screen it from the rooftops, but you're saying, yeah, this is me. This is, this is my go-to.

And if the opportunity presents itself, go for it, really go for it. But don't force it satisfaction. Isn't something you should force. So hopefully I'll give you some guidance there.

Will: Okay. hopefully that will have answered your question to a successful level gentleman. I think we should probably call it there.

if you are interested  in a private reading by Daniel, he does do those by appointments, by request.

So, you can look them up. I've got links to his social media it's at, in this Touro I will, but I'll lay in direct links for you so you can either email him or reach out to him via social media. So if you're interested in getting a reading from him, that's how you can get ahold of him

We did have a couple of other questions, but I think we'll we'll move forward because I definitely wanted to touch base on. The project that we had talked about, earlier it's a podcast that you  produce. It's called the Ozymandias [00:39:00] project. And it's got an really interesting topic.

So I'd love for you to share that with the audience.

As money Python says  now for something completely

Daniel Maday: different. Right. So, yes. Yeah. So, I can't say I'm a lumberjack and I'm okay. But. If you are a lumberjack, that is okay. That is okay. So the  project is a very, very interesting highly business experience I've had in the last year.

And I'm over the moon to talk about. So that was Amanda's project is something where a good colleague of mine wanted to have conversations with people. Or around her content area, which is ancient history. She specializes in ancient, Greece and ancient Rome. Shanti speaks Greek among other languages and does all sorts of other academic research there.

But part of the conversations she was having were about political extremism and the reappropriation of ancient symbology. So, you may have seen in the last year in the news, there are some. Groups to the far side of things of local spectrum. And [00:40:00] they tend to take on certain iconology of Roman or Greek culture of Norse mythology.

You'll see a lot of things. So you might've seen. Somebody perhaps stretches as a showman earlier this year across things, and they might have tattoos of  and other famous kind of myths and legends. So the podcast started off as a conversation to talk about those areas and of course inspired by the poem Ozymandias by Percy Shelley.

So on the show, what happens is we have guests on both from academia and actually media. So we've had people like Janet Varney or greater LA Griffin, if you know, voice actors who've done things for, you know, avatar, the last Airbender Scooby-Doo listen, decor, all sorts of stuff in between. We actually get some game designers on there as well.

And what they talk about is their connection with a direct or even very indirect, too. Not just ancient studies and history, but stories, universal myths. What makes the classics classic is that. Even though they made seem, you know, these [00:41:00] high pillars, they change over time and we are developing new modern classics all the time, too.

So analyzing the past through a modern lens and going back and forth. But on the podcast, they talk about kind of their interactions there, the work they do, whether it's a seriality or voice work. And we end every episode of the podcast with a reading of Ozymandias, the poem. So that's done with the guests and what's really exciting is we started off as a podcast back in October of 2020.

And since I've actually grown into a bit of a larger business we have a bit of a social media presence and the two other major things we do beyond the podcast are Archeo gaming and coaching and consulting. So Arco gaming is a new. Field of study, where we were using video games and new media to understand the ancient world.

So you may have heard of Assassin's creed has a discovery tour where instead of you know, having knives and taking out baddies, you are walking around the Acropolis exploring as it was. We also have a tabletop version. [00:42:00] We're working on a small RPG called history and mythology where. Similar kind of the Dungeons and dragons setting but much, much more simplified.

You are tossed into a fantastical, somewhat historical, somewhat mythological realm, such as Medusa's temple up here in it, or the labyrinth of meanness. And you can quickly build a character. And they can either be historically or mythologically themed. So you might be a soldier who is historically accurate and has big beefy muscles and strong swordsmanship skills and is an expert in what they do.

Or you might have somebody mythological who is an artisan who praised the gods and you know, looks out for Zeus, pretending to be a tree and all the other wild womens that you might find a mythology. We actually are developing lesson plans about, around both of these things to make it educational, but also make it engaging.

So if you already have, I have an interest in these things, you might enjoy our resources. If you're looking to teach them or learn more, we might have them, right. That's where kind of the coaching [00:43:00] consulting comes in. We try to produce all of our resources for free, but of course, if you want us to custom tailor something in your curriculum or make something entirely new, We offered that as well.

The podcast of course is free as well. So I encourage anybody. Who's interested in those to hear it a quick, disclaimer, you'll not hear me on the podcast, except for the occasional ad read. I am strictly behind the scenes kind of business side and production.

Will: Very cool.  I'll definitely check it out. I encourage you if you're interested in that kind of thing to, to also check it out because it sounds really cool.

Daniel, thank you so much for coming on and answering some questions from our listeners. At some point we'd love to have you back.  We had so many questions that we couldn't even get to and really refund to have Nina here.

So you can, she can ask you about her love life. I mean, the question is she was actually asking.

Daniel Maday: Sure thing, you know, I've always have to do additional readings or also just some rapid fire questions about taro or my perspective on it. So thanks for having me thanks for listening and made the sun shine upon all of your journeys.

Will: Thank you so much, Daniel. And thank you for listening today. If you'd like to connect directly with Daniel, you can reach him on [00:44:00] social media. Like we mentioned at, in this Touro, I will, like I said, I've laid in direct links to those in my show notes. So it's easy for you to do so. As I mentioned also, he does offer readings by request.

So make sure you look them up, you could always also email him instead. His email address can also be found on the show notes as well. If you'd like to also check out  the Ozymandias project, the podcasts can be found on apple podcasts, Spotify, or any of the major podcasting platforms, as well as embedded on his website, which I will also link to in the show notes.

You can send me a voice message via speakpipe.com/skeptic metaphysician. I'd love to hear your thoughts, comments, questions, or feedback on the show or the guests. And I love sharing people's stories and would love to share yours too.

So please feel free to reach out if you'd like to come on the show. You can join me on Facebook at the skeptic metaphysician or email me directly there that address along with links to my social media platforms and speak pipe access are all in the show notes as well.  Well, that's all for now. Thanks again for listening in to the [00:45:00] skeptic physician. We'll see you again on the next episode until then take care.
