00:00 Steve I'm sucking your light right out of your former. You better be careful about that. Oh, I can suck. Yeah, I know you can. I can suck.
00:10 Chris Oh, go ahead. You just ask the boys. That's right. We'll ask the boys. Just ask the boys. That's right. You know what your face isn't on? Your face isn't on, but your voice is.
00:21 Marc Woo!
00:22 Steve You murdered that. Let me tell you something. Just get me in the studio.
00:25 Chris Are you kidding me? Just get me in the studio. All right. Are you kidding me?
00:29 Steve Are you kidding me?
00:30 Chris How did we get this show on with the power out for the last 45 minutes? The technical director of stores again. I can't even tell you how frustrated I was.
00:45 Marc The technical director. Woo! We almost weren't here tonight.
00:48 Chris I know. I know. It was very, very close.
00:51 Steve We really have to make up for it now.
00:53 Marc Yep. Yep. Today, we are predicting the Steelers season. That's right.
00:57 Chris That's right. The Steelers spectacular. Absolutely. And bring your picks. Welcome to the Sports Porch Pittsburgh coming to you from the basement of the Monroeville Studios. Monroeville Studios. And listen, we're going to drop the podcast right after the show. We are live, luckily for us, on Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Twitter, all over the world. iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, anywhere you can get your freaking podcasts. So grateful you guys are here. And I actually just want to let you in on something. We were doing our Philadelphia show and the power cut out. It went out. I don't know. Some moron ran into a telephone pole down the street. I think it was the police. Well, it could have been. And the first thing that Mark says to me is, did you call that generator guy? I gave you his phone number before. I was like, what difference is that going to make now? Well, because if you had the generator, then we wouldn't have had a problem. Yeah. But can he put the generator up in 15 minutes? Can he get it? No, no, no. I know. We already had the generator. See, I got him this time. I got him. We almost did the show on this right here. I was outside. My wife, my lovely wife, brought us coffee. And this. I'm trying to kind of for better lack of a better term, Jerry rigged the sports porch back in the old days. But thankfully we didn't have to. And we are here. And this is I'm going to say I'm going to say one thing about the pirates and I have to. No, I have to. I have to. I have to. I have to. We're going to bring it back to the Steelers. But you can listen to the report on the podcast on the sports porch after every buck goes game. Now, it hasn't been after every buck goes game. I've skipped one or two here and there because I had some other things going. And quite frankly, it's getting very, very hard to watch. Actually, can I make a positive comment? It should be getting easier now that you know they're done. Yeah. Well, here's the thing. Go ahead.
02:51 Marc Positive comments. You know, I do the Philly support. You do. And what I find, you know, sort of it's a good and a bad thing. Since the Phillies are playing really well, it's like I have nothing to talk about. Really? You have loads to talk about. Because, you know, when everything's bad, you just complain and you question the manager and everything. And I'm just like, yep, they won again. Yeah.
03:16 Chris You know, you've got lots of material. I do have a lot of material. This is true. But the issue becomes that the material actually, it gets old. It gets old. You know, the lineup is a mess. The compression kicks. Right. Right. The pitching is horrible. Mitch Keller's in an arbitration year. Paul Skeens, excuse me, is the second coming. I mean, come on. I could talk about this until I'm blue. Actually, you know what? I was just about, I just made your point for you. I can talk about this until I'm blue in the face. There's a lot of material there. I don't want to turn blue. That's the problem.
03:52 Steve No, let's turn black and gold instead. Yeah. Let's do that.
03:56 Chris So anyway, I want to thank everybody who does listen to the Buccos report. I will continue to do them until the end of the year. And at the end of the year, you'll get my evaluation of where they are and where I think they're going.
04:08 Marc Actually, what I want to know is, you know, look, I give you some props for doing this till the end of the year, because it must be absolute torture. Will you be doing this next year? We'll see how they start.
04:23 Steve There might be other people involved next year. Let me just say this.
04:29 Chris I really, really enjoy doing it. I do. I enjoy after the game is over, firing up the music, looking at the stats. I watch almost all the games. You're doing a pirate imitation, because that's about the highlight.
04:46 Marc Yeah, exactly. It is a highlight. Do you guys like the pirate?
04:50 Steve I think the pirate has allowed you to make it to the top of the list. I think without the pirate, you never would have made it. No, I haven't yet. But the pirate is still around.
05:02 Chris I think the pirate is going to take you the whole way home. Yeah. I think what happened is I got so frustrated with this that I split into two personalities. The one that said, you got to make it, Chris. You absolutely have to make it. You do have multiple personalities.
05:16 Marc And the one you think so. Yeah. Oh, yeah.
05:20 Steve I don't know why I'm saying that. Really? Who's got multiple personalities in your family? Let's not talk about that.
05:25 Chris Let's bring that up. Does the doctor have multiple personalities? I promise you it's not the doctor. Okay. That's probably it.
05:33 Steve It's not in my immediate family. Let's just leave it at that. Fucking cousins here. Yeah, probably second or third. Are they from other states like perhaps West Virginia?
05:42 Chris That wouldn't shock me. That wouldn't shock me.
05:47 Steve Although I did find out we do have relatives in Washington state. Yeah. Well, and I don't know why that means anything. Sometimes I found that.
05:56 Chris When it came off as a bad case of moonshine. Yeah. Only in West Virginia. Yeah.
06:03 Marc And our biggest fan is in the house. DG says, you guys are cracking me up already. By the way, your Buccas reports are great.
06:09 Chris As painful as it must be sometimes. The pirate is a must. The pirate is a must. The pirate is a must. As painful as it must be sometimes. The pirate is a must. New junior.
06:18 Steve David, you gotta give us your sealer pics. Come on. We're talking to the sealer. We are gonna be working on it.
06:24 Chris So one last thank you very much for supporting the Buccos report. And the pirate says thank you very much as well. So, you know. Yeah. And that's that. And that's that. So. Alright. Listen guys. Real quick. Anything you want to drop about the last preseason game on Thursday? Anything you picked out of that? I mean. You know. Again. There was a lot. And here's where I'll lead us and then we'll get to our predictions. Because since we're, you know, we're gonna have a really short show if we just go predictions. I don't think so. Okay. Well, considering what we had to go through to get here. I don't want to have a short show. I want to have fun. So what I'll leave you with is this. This is. Maybe you guys are the reason. Oh, we're definitely having fun. Yeah. So before the game. Everybody was. About.
07:20 Marc I would say Penny Pickett won the preseason. Right. Everybody was. About.
07:25 Chris Should they start? The starters are not. And now this is hindsight. So they looked. The starters looked pretty good. In the two series they were in. Nobody major got hurt. Nobody has any form. They don't have major injuries. So I want to go back in time a little bit. Would you have started the starters? Would you have done that?
07:48 Marc Well, I think it's obviously a one. Well, I think it's different depending on the state of where your team is. You know, like, for example, Kansas City and Philadelphia don't need to start their starters. Even though Kansas City did it for one game. Always got to bring it. But. But. But you know, teams that need to get better, especially offensively. Needs to get timing down. Needs to build confidence. So I think they did do the right amount. Yeah. You know, I mean, for me. I wouldn't have had TJ Lott play a snap in the preseason. Right. But, you know, hey. Tomlin has never had a losing season. So I'm not going to question him. I know this is going to be a fun year.
08:38 Chris He's gaslighting. So you are. So you are of the same opinion. Yeah.
08:46 Steve I think they needed to play. I think both offensively and offensively needed to play. But they had 17 days off. I mean, that's a lot of days in between your two games. Even if somebody tweaked an angle or something. You're going to get better in seven or ten days. So I think I actually don't think that they needed. I think this offense is pretty much the same offense as last year. They're just adding a few different things and maybe getting rid of the chess sweep as much as they ran out last year. Yeah. Which we think we have a lot of reason for. Right. So but I think they know what they want to do in offense. They're definitely. They're definitely. He's not getting rid of it. But I do believe that the offense knows what they want to do. And they just want to prove they can do it against the second team defense. They didn't really prove anything by doing that. But I think that it instills confidence. Right. And any time Kenny can throw the ball 35 yards in the air and get a completion, I think that's good for him. Yeah. So I see nothing wrong with playing them the way they could play the whole season. Yeah. Well, that makes the trifecta.
09:50 Chris I agree. DG says he's old school. He wants to get the starters out there. At least once a week. He finally dropped the Tom, Tom, and his t-shirt line. And he also says her big and golden can start if needed. Maybe we'll talk about that a little bit later. But yeah, I thought the way I thought was they didn't get a whole lot of reps. Even at the end of the preseason. Now, if you look at it, you know, Kenny Pickett. And the first team offense only had something like what's going on. And I think that's a good thing. And I think that's a good thing. I think he's a little bit more than a year old. But the first team offense. And the first team offense only had something like what 17 or 18. 17 or 18. The series. Yeah. I don't know why. Anybody else. But.
10:45 Marc Everything's working good here. And.
10:49 Chris You know what? I wasn't on mute. So. There's Steve, there it is.
10:56 Steve Technical. Technical director.
11:00 Chris Technical director. To working remotely. I just want to know. Check in the mail. Is there ever a time I am going to follow the damn checklist myself? This is my problem. You guys heard it here first. I own my mistake. This was my mistake. You did.
11:21 Marc We agree. You failed.
11:23 Steve Yes.
11:24 Marc We agree. The technical directors. I failed the patch. I like the fact that you own it. You're taking responsibility.
11:30 Chris Listen, man, as far as I'm concerned, owning mistakes for me is like being a billionaire real estate developer.
11:36 Marc Yeah. Can you make that connection?
11:38 Chris No. No.
11:40 Steve No. You have no idea what you're talking about.
11:42 Marc Just do better and close your mouth. All right. Okay.
11:46 Steve Let's let's let's get to it here. Yes. Before we get into the picks, we do have to talk about the trade that happens. Oh, yeah, we will. So I'm in agreement.
11:53 Chris I think they played enough and I think they looked good. I'm anxious to see what the season looks like because saying that they played enough and they look good is one thing, but going full speed and playing a whole game and winning games is a different thing. So we'll have to wait for that to unfold. And yes, the Steelers are going to be a great team. And yes, the Steelers traded Kevin Dotson to the Rams. Will they get a fourth round pick?
12:18 Steve They moved up in both the fourth and the fifth round.
12:21 Chris Okay. So give me your thoughts in the next two years.
12:23 Steve Give me your thoughts on that, Steve. Well, it's clear that Dotson was on his way out. So rather than just cut him out right, they basically put him on the market. And I think the Rams were the ones that took him. So the Rams said, Sure. Yeah. Well, we'll take him from you. And, you know, why not?
12:43 Chris Why would the Rams not wait for him to get cut? Well, that's not the way they might not be first in line. Of course not. No, that's not the way the Swindlers.
12:53 Steve But I mean, probably what this means is they're keeping Kendrick Green, which I'm not actually sure is a better, better move. But the reality is Kendrick Green can play center and Dotson can't. He can only play the guard position. Right. I mean, he's not versatile enough to really keep him just for the guard position. Clearly, they're happy with Salamalu or whoever that is. Seyamalu. I can't ever say his name right.
13:18 Marc Well, he's obviously starting no matter what. Yeah. And they think he's going to be healthy enough to play the whole season. I personally wouldn't have done the deal just because I think it's a solid backup. Like, actually, I don't think Dotson is a starting player, but I do think he's a backup player. You know, a first guy in at guard. And I probably would have kept them instead of just moving up a little bit in each round. That's just my two cents. It might not mean anything. Yeah. You know, if your guys don't get hurt this year.
13:48 Steve No, I think they're just they're happy with the other guys that are behind them and think that they're just as good as as Dotson is. You know, he did play, you know, all the games last year at right guard. So clearly he can play the position. But did you know that he also was the I think the third or fourth most penalized offensive
14:07 Marc line? Yeah, no, I didn't.
14:09 Chris But I kind of I'm kind of on Schwabers side with this or I have the same opinion he does, you know, for a long time during camp, we heard Kendrick Green was on the bubble and he still may be. Yeah. And he still may get cut for all we know, of course, which which then they're down another lineman. So, you know, why would you take a position that you have lacked depth and skill at for quite a few years that seems to be from for all intents and purposes coming together right now and and go ahead and trade a guy. And then if they cut green, you know, that was their biggest weakness was the offensive line. That was their biggest weakness. The last year that Ben was here, the first year that Kenny was here, Mitch Trubisky, all of that. So I'm on I have the same opinion you do. I may have waited. I may I may unless there was something else like you never know. Sometimes teams know something about a guy that's like it's not that they're. Yeah.
15:09 Steve Well, remember, they didn't just go out to get the guys that are starting in their positions. They got Nate Herbig, who clearly is a is an adequate backup. They think that's what CD was. He was. Well, I think he was I think he was talking about the other her big they can play outside linebacker for the. All right. All right. But but he was hurt, so he didn't get the play. But they clearly think he's with you. They think he's going to be ready. Yeah. Spencer Anderson a lot. And I guess Kendrick Green because of his versatility gets to stay. I mean, it really probably came down to Dotson and Green. They're not going to keep that many offensive linemen. It just doesn't make any sense.
15:48 Marc Yeah, I actually I actually forgot about the offensive linemen. Her big he can play.
15:52 Steve Yeah, he's a he's a player. And, you know, Dan Moore Jr. is going to be available once Broderick Jones gets in to play that position, too. So so so I think they feel like they they feel like they have three or four really good backups. They don't need a fifth. Yeah, might have saved them a little money. Yeah, it's definitely a salary dump because I think when it comes that now they have a little bit of money to spend, I think you're going to wait till a cornerback. Gets cut from one of these teams, and I think you're going to see them pick up a cornerback. I don't I don't really think they think that James Pierre is is a good enough backup in that cornerback position to be the fourth cornerback in. So I think that's right. You're going to see them do with that money, which I prefer them to do that based off of the money they spent, you know, for James Daniel and see a Malu and Mason Cole and those guys.
16:42 Chris So I'd like to pose a question before we get into the game by game analysis. Schwabber. Yes. Would you like to pose a question? I would.
16:54 Marc Okay, pose away. So I was actually thinking about this the other day while you were listening to murder rap and 10 o'clock at night. Yes.
17:04 Marc And it's a and it's a. That's tough. It's a perf. It's a perfect segue into our talk about the Steelers in their season. Something in me kind of says game one is crucial to the season. Like if the Steelers win game one, it's going to be a good season. If they lose game one, not saying it's over, but I'm worried. Really? Yeah. So any thoughts from you guys on that? I kind of see it like this.
17:41 Chris Is this a serious question or are you just trying to gas? No, no, no, no, no. He's just thinking about it.
17:45 Marc A totally, totally serious, totally serious question. Stop being an idiot.
17:53 Chris That's going to be really hard. That's one of my personalities. This is sort of the way I look at it.
17:57 Marc Now, look, a lot of people look at 49ers as either first or second best team in the NFC. Yeah, a lot of them going to the Super Bowl this year. OK. Brock Purdy apparently is 100 percent ready to go for the opener. OK. Well, but I'll also say this. San Francisco tends to get off to a slow start every year. Right. OK. They're on the road. Steelers are coming off. Look, they're on the road. Is it momentum that they had a really good preseason? I don't know. But but they're like we were talking about before, they're sort of like at the height of confidence. OK. And I think, you know, obviously in the first week, in the first week, Amy, we will, Amy, don't worry. I think in the first week we just did, actually, in the first week. This is a week where upsets can really happen because because teams aren't really in the flow of the season. And so I think that a lot of team, you know, a lot of experts are going to are going to say that the 49ers are going to win this game. But I think that the Steelers playing at home with some confidence being built in the preseason, I think they have a very good shot at this game. However, the flip side of it is, OK, let's say they play the 49ers and it all goes to crap. OK. Let's say the 49ers defense intercepts Kenny Pickett two times, runs one in, Steelers lose 30 to 14. OK, I'm just going to I'm just going to go.
19:38 Chris Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
19:39 Marc All right. All right. So basically what I'm saying is that happens. Then do then do the Steelers nation all of a sudden say, see, the you know, the preseason was nothing and they played a good team. They got their ass kicked and blah, blah, blah.
19:55 Chris Yeah. Well, there's only there's there's that's a lot to have to deal with to answer the big question.
20:02 Marc So the question I know what it was simply is, I know. Does the first game.
20:08 Chris Does it really determine which way this season goes? OK, so so first of all, we have our fantasy draft coming up this this. Yes, nobody cares. And I hope this thinking follows you. The fantasy draft and CD is correct. You're overthinking it. You're overthinking it. You're under thinking it. If you don't mind, I'll I'll give you my answer. Go ahead. I don't know. I don't. I don't think it matters at all. I don't think it matters at all because teams typically in the first game, a lot of teams come out flat. And if the Steelers win, in my opinion, if they win big, it's because the 49ers came out flat. If they they're not, they're not they're not going to come out flat. You don't think so? OK, so but I don't think that that means that the season is lost if they if they lose to the 49ers, even if they get trounced, I don't think that means the season is lost. It's one game. It's just one game. And I don't care that it's a 49ers. I don't care that it's a potential Hall of Fame quarterback. You care about anything? I don't I don't I don't care. I don't I don't care. No, I don't care about much, actually. But I see that. But I care about you. But I know I don't think it matters. I'm going to keep my answer short.
21:29 Steve I don't think I care deeply about the first game, but I also do not think it matters. And here's why, because it's not a divisional game. So you're playing NFC against AFC. So typically those games are pretty free flowing because they're not they're way down the line as far as tiebreakers are concerned. I just think and I'm not going to talk about, you know, whether I think they're going to win or lose, but I just think the 49ers are a very good well coached team. They'll come in ready. I don't think they'll have that East Coast, West Coast hangover that, you know, everybody talks about because they're going to be here probably Thursday or Friday before they're not going to come in Saturday night and then be ready for the game on Sunday. I think you're overthinking it now. No, I do. I'm just I'm just telling you that I in as far as the rest of the season concerns, it's just the first game and I don't think it's going to play in anybody's psyche. I do agree with you, though. I think some yinzers will take the deep end. That's awesome. And look for bridges. Absolutely. I think that will happen because they don't have to look far. Well, you know, it's only 440. It's a short it's a short block to a bridge.
22:40 Marc Essentially what I'm essentially what I'm getting at, though, is that when you are a team that hasn't made the playoffs, right. It's it's you're in such a better position if you start the season with a win, you know, and maybe even two wins. And so then if you lose a game, you're still over 500. It's so much harder when you're chasing 500 as compared to playing with a winning record.
23:09 Steve The Steelers are so used to chasing 500. I don't think that that fits in our psyche. I don't know.
23:15 Marc They do. They do have experience with that.
23:17 Steve But I do think I know where this is. They're not a juggernaut. They're not going to be a juggernaut this year. They're not going to come out and win the first five games. Well, I mean, maybe they will. I think maybe we should talk about it. You got a middle five. I think that's where we should go to. All right. OK, so let's talk about the San Francisco game. All right.
23:35 Chris We are going to do our twenty twenty three, twenty four. Well, twenty twenty three Steelers season schedule predictions right now. We want to know what yours are. So at any time, drop in live on Sunday. Drop in live on social media, either drop it in the comments or hey, give us a call. We have lines open for one to eight or five, seven, two, three, six. Did I sound professional when I did that? No, you did not. Let's move. OK, first game, forty niners. And I'm going to keep the record here. So we will follow this throughout the year.
24:06 Marc Forty niners, Mark, I got a win. That got the Steelers winning. OK, twenty eight to thirteen. The forty winers come in overrated. He's always going to do this. And they are overrated and they're not that well coached unless you call great coaching screwing up in the postseason all the time. And, you know, Kenny has his first two touchdown game in the NFL. He also runs one in and one of the running backs runs one and they win twenty eight thirteen. Wow. OK.
24:42 Chris And before we go any further, I just wanted to inform you that we did plan for this to be a three hour show tonight. Thank you. Hey, I'm just having fun.
24:52 Marc You're you know, it's bothering you. Just cut me off. Oh, I can always do that.
24:59 Steve Yeah, that's true. You have the CD's got a win.
25:01 Chris And so does Brad, who's in the house. Welcome, Brad. Hey, Brad. Well, Steve, what do you got? I got a loss. You got a loss. I don't think I don't think there's a loss.
25:08 Steve I think their offense will struggle against a good 49ers defense. Yep. And I think they they lose 17 to 10. OK. Oh, you see Greenlaw coming up with a pick.
25:20 Chris I'm not going to go into all the details of prognosticating exactly what happens on the field. He said you had to. No, I know. I know. You usually don't.
25:30 Marc You can be as vanilla as you want. Thank you very much. And I am I got a loss there.
25:37 Chris How can you beat Brock Purdy Hall of Fame? I mean, you just can't. No, I honestly. Brock Purdy will throw for under 200 yards. Don't get me wrong. But I just think the Steelers offense is going to struggle. Yeah, I well, I think San Francisco overall has a better team just because. So there's a loss. Game two. They're picked to go to the Super Bowl. Game two. Home for the versus Cleveland. It's a Monday night spectacular. So hold on. DG says Steelers rally with a home field win 24 17. He's talking by the way, the Steelers haven't opened at home since 2014. Yeah, that that's oh, so this is a big game. We're getting nine years. We should we should like, you know, hey, have fun. All right. So we're going to go to the Super Bowl. We should we should we should like, you know, hey, have fun. All right. Browns Mark, you know, Scott's going to be all right.
26:32 Marc Yeah, the Steelers boy. The Steelers offense stays hot and it's not even close. They win 30.
26:40 Chris They win 34 21 W. Brad says two and oh Steelers.
26:45 Steve Yeah, I got him winning. There's no way they're going to lose the Cleveland Monday night after losing to 49ers.
26:51 Marc We're all in agreement on that one. Game three at Las Vegas Raiders Raiders. All right. Schwabber. You know, it seems like the Steelers always struggle with the Raiders. They do.
27:09 Steve I'm going to go lost 27 23 and a heartbreaker. Yeah, I got him losing at Vegas, too. They struggle at Vegas. That is a Sunday night game, though. So I actually think so. I agree with you about the first game being kind of important, but I think they're going to I don't think they're going to perform well. I think this one also is a very important game. If they can win this game, I think they can really start stringing some games together, but I don't think they're going to do it. I think they lost. They're going to lose.
27:37 Marc I say win because Jimmy Garoppolo is not the Jimmy Garoppolo of the past, and he is definitely not Brock Birdie Hall of Fame. You know what? Jimmy Garoppolo. He's actually the Jimmy Garoppolo of the present.
27:53 Chris Yeah, he is the current Jimmy Garoppolo. Okay. And if I'm not calling out your predictions, guys, I am putting them up on the screen. DG Steelers beat the Raiders. Okay.
28:04 Steve Game. Wow. David's got them three and oh, game four.
28:07 Marc You're going to like the rest of these games. The Texans Steelers win just a slop fest.
28:15 Steve 20 to 12 slop best. Now, this won't be a slop fest. I still have no problem wiping up Houston. This is one of those where it's a guaranteed win. Everybody's got him three and oh, Brad's got him three and oh, CDs got him. No, I think CD said they would lose at a Raiders. So he's two.
28:32 Chris All right. So what did you say? When they won fest, when it's 12 slop fest, when okay, or field goals for the Texans. Steelers win back to 500 Tomlin breathe a sigh of relief. Okay. Brad says they win. CD says they win three and one. I you know what? I've always said about games like this. Come on. It's a trap game. That's the way I feel about that Vegas game. I don't think this is a trap. Steelers lose this game. Oh, you lose. And I've got them at two and two. All right.
29:09 Marc Game five. Well, I have Sunday at home against the Ravens. I have the no. Oh, yeah. Versus Baltimore.
29:17 Chris Yeah, I have. We let the Steelers guy do the steel.
29:20 Steve That's okay. It's fine.
29:22 Marc I just upset that the Philly show is so wrong. Just get a hold of yourself. So we got to get one of those in. So the so I have the Steelers off to a hot start here. They're three and one. And unfortunately, at home with high hopes, it comes crashing down. They lose to the Ravens 31 to 18. Odell Beckham has two scores and Lamar Jackson runs one in himself from 50 yards.
29:55 Steve Wow. So that's ridiculous. The Steelers. The Steelers clearly know how to handle Lamar Jackson. They'll win this game. They're going to they're going to beat Baltimore.
30:04 Chris It's at home at home. Okay, I'm going to I'm giving them a win because it's only because well, 45 yard field goal. No time only because it's at home CD win versus the Ravens four and one league wakes up. He's getting a little schwa. Ask a little schwa.
30:22 Steve Looks like the other to flitch is all in on this season. Well, I'm three and two. I mean, you know, I'm not that Brad.
30:30 Chris Brad's got him at five and Brad's got a 16 and oh, let's go.
30:34 Steve Yeah, that's awesome.
30:36 Chris Okay. DG says Ravens. All right.
30:39 Marc Game six by game six by. Okay, that's a time game. You got to buy. You got to buy. I got to buy. Yeah, it's a buy.
30:50 Steve I'm going to give him a game seven at L.A. Rams. It's a four o'clock game on Sunday. Ram.
30:56 Marc You know, this is one. This was really hard. I you know, this is one where I feel like the Steelers are the better team. And they should win this game, but they don't. They lose some good coaching by Sean McVeigh. They lose a close one. Twenty four to twenty one. It's twenty one. All Stafford hooks up with Cooper Cup and they drill a forty five yard field goal at the bus or I'm sorry, Steve. No, I agree with you.
31:24 Steve I think this is definitely a game where they should win it and they will lose it. Okay.
31:29 Chris All right. And you know, I've got him in for a loss as well.
31:33 Steve Okay. I actually think the Rams are going to be pretty good this year. Game seven. Game seven. Sunday versus Jacksonville. It's a home game. Sunday afternoon. Okay.
31:45 Marc I have got the Steelers at three and three and everybody's trying to wonder what do we have here? What do we have? Wait a minute.
31:55 Chris I want to give you one one quick interesting statistic. We all have the Steelers at three and three right now. Three and three. All of us. Interesting. Okay.
32:06 Steve And all in a very different way. Brad now Brad now has them undefeated. Brad got them undefeated and he's coming in to see the undefeated Steelers six and oh play against Jacksonville. What do you got Brad? Yeah. Yeah. Lost versus Jackson.
32:20 Chris So you you Jags. Go ahead. You Jags. You Jags.
32:24 Marc I got the Jags winning a tight one. Twenty eight to twenty nine. Yeah.
32:29 Steve I see the next three games is crucial for the for the Steelers season. They have to win two of these games. If they don't, they're really going to be struggling. But I have them losing against Jacksonville.
32:43 Chris Okay. I say they're going to they're going to pull out. What is this loss? Because I'm going to get to that. We know Brad. I say they're actually going to pull out a win in this one. It's going to be close. You gave them a win, right? I want to make sure I didn't give.
32:58 Marc I gave no I gave them. Yeah. I gave them a win over Jacksonville. Okay.
33:03 Chris Yeah.
33:04 Steve I think they're going to pull this. It's all about getting the Trevor during that game. If they can get the Trevor, I think they can beat them because I don't think they're running games going to be that great. Yeah. But I don't know. Okay. Game number eight versus Tennessee Titans. It's an eight o'clock Thursday night prime video game. There you go. That means you can't watch it on the television. Well, you can. No.
33:26 Chris Only if you have prime, which like only the whole universe does now. Except for poor people.
33:32 Steve Yeah. There'll be people in your neighborhood coming to your house looking for a video. Except did you really just say except for poor people? Holy shit. People don't have prime anyway.
33:47 Chris Listen, if you're watching in your poor, the sports force does not endorse this sort of thinking. And we are not responsible for anything that Mark Schwartz. We were all poor once except for Mark. I'm just saying that you're not appreciative of the poor people. You can back out all you want. Who do you got, Mark? Brad says seven and one because only because he's there. CD says, win. And your wife reminds you that that was inappropriate.
34:13 Marc I am sorry, Amy. I apologize. The Titans, unfortunately, come in. This is a loss. The Titans get some a few touchdowns from Deandre Hopkins and one from Derek Henry. And unfortunately, they win it 27 to 18. It's a very frustrating game for the Steelers offense. And the fan base is beginning to question. I disagree.
34:44 Steve I think Tennessee's quarterback, whoever it may be at the time that they play on Thursday, November the second will fail miserably against the defense. He's no Trevor Lawrence. They will win. So it's going to be a win and only four people will watch it on Prime Video. It is the Steelers.
35:00 Chris It is the only four rich people on the planet who can afford it. That's inappropriate. Dispicable. Steelers over Titan says DG it's a prime time game. Refresh my memory because I'm too busy trying to think about who I'm going to hire. I'm going to hire a guy who's going to be the first to play. Refresh my memory because I'm too busy trying to think about who I'm going to hire as an attorney after that comment. Yeah. Is it a home game?
35:23 Steve Is it a home game? It is a home game. OK.
35:26 Chris 15 Thursday. The Steelers are golden in prime time. They're winning that game. All right. Game number nine.
35:31 Steve And they're still at home and they're playing the Green Bay Packers. Jordan Love coming into Acres. It's a Sunday afternoon game after a long week. OK.
35:42 Marc I got a win for the Steelers 24 to 15. Yeah. I think Jordan Love is actually going to be pretty decent, but I don't think the record is going to show it this year.
35:52 Steve I think that the vision that the Packers play in sucks badly. And this will be too much competition for them to prepare for Steelers. I like the Steelers.
36:01 Chris OK. And I actually like the Steelers in that game as well. Game number 10. Wait, CD is saying win versus Green Bay.
36:12 Steve Game number 10. And they get to go to the Cleveland Browns. The mistake on the lake. It is a Sunday afternoon prime time game.
36:22 Marc I am going to say, unfortunately, sometimes these division games get split. You know, this is the one where Chubb goes off and has a big game. Steelers lose a close one 28 to 24. It's always a problem when Chubb goes off. Yeah. Chubb will probably inappropriate and disgusting.
36:44 Steve Chubb will go off. That is true. But the Steelers will still find a way to win this game. That's thanks to Deshaun Watson's four interceptions.
36:52 Chris Oh, so he hasn't looked very good. You had a loss. You had a loss. I had a loss. You had a win, right?
37:00 Marc I got a win. That's three in a row for your Stillers. I did see this as being a game to see where should win, but they lose.
37:08 Chris I actually have a loss because they seem to split. And I think that Deshaun Watson will unleash Chubb on the same. Unleash the Chubb. He will unleash the Chubb. Brad has it as a loss. And the Steelers at eight and two right now. Thank you, Brad. Next game, which is what? Game 11, right?
37:28 Steve Game 11. No. Yeah. It's their 11th game, right? Sunday, November 26th at Cincinnati.
37:36 Chris And I have the Steelers at five and five right now. Okay. And one, two, three, four, six and four. One, two, three, four, six and four. Okay.
37:47 Marc So it's five and five and Steelers fans are starting to think playoffs. Playoffs?
37:53 Marc Playoffs?
37:54 Marc I don't know. So it is the end of November. So they're going into Cincinnati and they're trying to show that they're for real. And unfortunately, they get smacked around by Joe Cool Burrow. It's a 35 to 17 loss.
38:10 Steve Yeah. I don't see them winning at Cincinnati this year. I think it'll be a competitive game. I think the Steelers will try and run the ball, keep the ball away from Burrow, but he's still pretty good quarterback. If he's still playing and he hasn't broken his leg by now, hopefully he has. But they still have mixing around. So hopefully he has. As long as Burrow hasn't broken his leg too badly. I expect the Bengals win this game.
38:35 Chris Yeah. Yeah. You know what, Steve? I hope Joe Burrow breaks his leg just so you can be happy. Thank you. I appreciate that. That's despicable. Brad says that's a loss. Now I'm going to break from the norm here. Of course you are. I say the Steelers are going to go in there and win that game. They're going to surprise everyone. But the go across the river and hit the new RIF distillery is CD off track. Oh, okay.
39:00 Steve No, no, no. Because right across the road is Kentucky. In Kentucky they make some pretty good bourbon and whiskey. Yeah. But not in Cincinnati. You can't get good whiskey.
39:10 Chris Is CD drinking right now? Because I don't know why that comment. Well, if he is, he better be sharing. Yeah, that's right. DG says, I think they show that they're real Steelers over the Bengals. I like how you think, DG. Game number 12.
39:21 Steve Wow, David. What does David got him at? He's got to have them up there at like 11 and three. I don't know. I don't know.
39:28 Chris We're on game number 12. How is that possible? Well, he's picking a lot of wins. You got to get your slide roll out here. All right. Game number 12.
39:37 Steve Come on. Game number 12. Finally, somebody we can beat. How about versus Arizona? And it's an afternoon game on a Sunday. And it's a home game, right? And it is a home game. Okay.
39:48 Marc The Cardinals are the worst team in the league. They're going to get the number one pick and they're going to pick Caleb Williams of USC. So they've got their quarterback next year. My guess is that whoever it is, their fast little running quarterback who's on the IR right now, he's probably not even going to play this year. No, my guess. They are going to be a dumpster fire. They're going to be one in 15 or one in 16 or two in 19. This is the easiest game of the year for your Steelers 38 to 20 win season high three touchdowns from Kenny Pickett all to Pickens.
40:26 Steve This will not be an easy game for the Steelers because Josh Dobbs will be the quarterback that he'll come in and throw four touchdown passes. But Kenny Pickett will throw five and will win. Josh Dobbs sucks. I'm going to give him a win. This is a class. This is a classic.
40:42 Marc But I think they're going to win this game. Brad says a win. C.D. says a win.
40:46 Chris But G. Come out flat lose to Arizona. It's starting to sour. OK. Game number 13. Well, it's a short week.
40:58 Steve They got a but they get to stay at home, but they have to play against our friends at New England and Bill Bell a cheater himself. Who you got? It's oh, by the way, another prime video game. So if you didn't buy it for the first one, don't buy. Well, maybe you can take out like a high interest payday loan and get prime if you're poor. I think you get it for free if you buy like one of those $35,000 televisions. Yeah, it's really inappropriate to talk about. So I think you can get it for free.
41:30 Marc Yeah, it's really inappropriate to talk about socioeconomic status of the disenfranchised. All right. Tell me how good a coach is Bill Belichick without Tom Brady. Not too good. Yeah, I think this is a win, but I do think it'll be close. I'm going to see Steelers win a nail biter. The boss from 14 years ago. I think it's a win. I think it'll be close. I'm going to see Steelers win a nail biter. The boss from 47, 21, 20 Steelers win.
42:02 Chris Brad says a win. Steve.
42:04 Steve Well, he's no Joe Gibbs, but he is a pretty good cook coach. Bill Belichick is hilarious. However, he is coaching against Mike Tomlin, who's a much better coach than Belichick is I got the Steelers. They're winning CDs, got them losing. I got a loss there because Belichick is a thorn in Steelers nation side Tom Brady game 14 game 14. We're getting down the nitty gritty here. We got four games left. And fortunately for us, we got to go on the road to Indianapolis. It's a TBD time. Oh, could be. So that means it's going to be a one o'clock game.
42:46 Chris Brad wants to know because he had to buy NFL ticket just to see all the games. Does that make him rich? Listen, man, you are loaded. Yep. You are. If you can watch football every week, you're rich. You got some money. Yeah, you're definitely not poor. Okay.
43:04 Marc Indy Schwabber. Okay. This is one where Steelers are the better team. They should win by more than I'm going to say they're going to win by. The Colts play it tight. Ultimately, Richardson, their starting quarterback, makes a few mistakes. A strip sack from TJ Watt. Hopefully still playing. They win 17 to 16.
43:33 Steve I like that. Hopefully you still playing. CD says a win versus the Dolts clinch winning season hunt for wild cards. Indianapolis has got nothing left. Anthony Richardson at this point will be probably a phenom, but he'll be their best running back. And that'll be all they have. Easy win for the Steelers.
43:52 Chris I put this one in the category of Arizona and Houston. Trap game. I give them a loss. Brad 11 and four road trip game for me. Only a 10 hour drive. Well, there you go. Look, you must be really rich because you can afford the gas to get there. Yeah. Yep. Yep.
44:11 Steve You could always be really rich. You'd just charter a plane. Yeah, that's true. Let's be fair. And you know, that's what he's doing. That's right. We know. It's okay. You can flex here. It's fine with us.
44:21 Chris DG says Steelers lose their third in a row as fans scream for Canada's head. You know, we're not factoring that in at all, but we're just making predictions. Okay.
44:28 Marc Game number.
44:29 Steve I almost forgot about him for an hour. Yeah, I know. Okay. This is the rubber game. Damn you, DG. Cincinnati comes in after they thumped our butts and it's Saturday, December 23rd. And everybody's thinking about Christmas. They're not thinking about football. Are they, Mark? Or are they?
44:44 Marc Well, Steelers fans are thinking about football and everybody is liquored up and they are back at the act. But unfortunately, it's going to be a rough day. Barrow. I'll give you a little sneak sneak into next week. I think the Bengals are going to go pretty far this year. I heard that last year. The Bengals in a route 42 to 24.
45:12 Steve Well, much like you guys have been saying, it seems like you always split. The Steelers will beat Cincinnati. They always beat Cincinnati once.
45:22 Chris Okay. I've got them losing this game. I've got them losing the twice to Cincinnati.
45:26 Steve By the way, that makes them 10 and five in my book. Yeah, I know.
45:29 Marc And let's save the rest of the schedule for, you know, the will do. We'll follow your lead coach.
45:35 Chris Oh, thank you. Game number 16.
45:39 Steve Okay. Now that we leave the East Coast and go to the West Coast and we get to play the Hawks, the Seattle Seahawks, who it's a Sunday. Oh, and it is a four o'clock game on December 31st. And they do.
45:55 Marc What do you think? They do have beautiful uniforms. But I will say that I don't believe in Geno Smith. They do have a pretty well-run program out there. They're always competitive with Pete Carroll. So I think I think it'll be close. But the Steelers are, you know, they have to win to get a playoff spot. And they get that win 26 to 23.
46:21 Steve I'll tell you, Boswell just always makes them when they count. So I have the Steelers at 10 and five going into this game. They're feeling pretty confident. All they got to do is win one of our last two. They're guaranteed a playoff spot. And guess what?
46:34 Chris They lose. Oh, no. There you go. Well, I mean, considering son of a win Seahawks because it's my birthday says CD. That's that's DG says the Steelers are going to win. Don't be an idiot. And that's inappropriate. I don't like the West Coast trip. I think that's bad for them. I think they lose. They're now on a four game losing streak. All right.
46:59 Steve Game 17. It's the last game in the season. And we get to go to Baltimore and play the Ravens for the winner. This game is the winner of the division.
47:13 Marc Well, I would disagree with that. The winner of the division will be the Cincinnati Bengals. This is for second year. This is for second place in the division. But it doesn't mean that three teams might not go to the playoffs. The Ravens be on NFL films. The Ravens.
47:31 Steve How many losses does he have?
47:33 Marc It is a Ravens win and they're in game. And Lamar Jackson hits that tight end. Andrew's late in the fourth putting those Ravens up. They win 30 to 21 in a disappointing game for the Steelers. They finished nine and eight. They're hopeful, but they need some help to get in.
47:55 Steve This is a classic Steelers Bravens game. It comes down to the last person kicking the ball. And it will, unfortunately, will be Mr. Tucker himself from about 58. And it's right down the middle.
48:09 Chris And there was never a doubt. And I'm going the absolute absolute opposite direction. I've got them winning this game. They sweep. Baltimore this year. That'd be awesome. Wow. OK, hold on.
48:21 Steve I want some of that. You're drinking over there. Yeah.
48:24 Chris Wow. That would be oat milk latte. I got one too. Steelers beat the Ravens. Baltimore clinched wild card. Brad went against Seattle. Went against Baltimore. He's got Brad's got him at 12 and five. 12 and five. Yeah, that's a popular one. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven. And one, two, three, four, five, six, seven. All right, this is crazy. So Schwab. It's crazy. Schwab has them at nine and eight. Nine and eight. I have them at nine and eight. You have them at 10 and seven. 10 and seven. Yeah, that's what I have. 10 and seven.
48:59 Steve They're going to go four and two in the division. They're going to sweep Cleveland. They're going to split with Baltimore and Sinsey. I think that's where I differ from you guys. And against the East Coast, they're going to sweep. They're going to sweep. They're going to sweep. I think that's where I differ from you guys. And against the AFC, they're going to go three and two. And I think they're going to struggle against the NFC. And that's going to be the problem.
49:22 Marc Three and three against the NFC. Listen to this. How exciting this is going to be. When my Steelers at nine and eight, unfortunately lose the last game to the Ravens. They need help to get into the playoffs. New England has to beat the Jets on the last game of the year. That sounds very problematic.
49:42 Chris The fans are rooting for Bill and the Pats to win. Did you really think about that all day?
49:50 Marc I forgot what button it was. Yes, I did.
49:53 Chris I had to wait all day. So nobody had more than 12 wins. Yeah, I mean, I had to keep track of DG. What did you have him at? Chris, I have him at nine and eight. He's got him at 10 and seven. CD has him at 11 and six. Brad has him at 12 and five. I think DG is closer to the 10 and seven because he had him with a three or four game. Yeah, they were losing a lot at the end. Yeah. Yeah. So you know what? I don't know. But all I do know is that football season this year seems to be just crawling towards us. You know what I mean?
50:28 Steve Like, it can't come soon enough. Well, for the first time, we have to wait a whole week with no football until we get football on that Thursday. Yeah.
50:38 Chris Yikes. That really sucks. CD says, good thing you spent 15 minutes on Purdy in San Francisco. Actually, you're right. Look at that. Purdy. Purdy.
50:49 Steve Why do you care about Purdy? He's not that good.
50:51 Chris Look, I'll tell you what. We'll just see what this year says. How about that? We'll see what happens.
50:58 Steve So if San Francisco makes the playoffs and Purdy goes 10 and seven, you're going to say he's still Hall of Fame material? I don't think so. Hall of Fame.
51:10 Chris Jeff says, got here late. Put me down for 10 and seven. Thanks, buddy. Mike says, I tuned in late. Who did you guys pick opening Sunday versus San Francisco? I'll give that to you. Mark picked the 49ers. No, I did not. I picked the Steelers. Excuse me. My fault. Mark picked the Steelers. Steve picked the Niners. And I picked the Niners. By the way, in that opener, CH3 with a 70-yard punt return. Yeah. And DG says, I think that Purdy was pretty damn good. So what I'm telling you about Purdy, I'm just telling you when you watch the kid play, he's got the it factor. You know what he is? Yeah. This is what he is. He is to the NFL right now what Tim Tebow was to college football when he was in college football. So he's destined for failure.
51:59 Steve That's a horrible comparison. So he's destined for failure.
52:01 Marc That means he's really, really bad.
52:03 Steve You're welcome, Mike. And by the way, I think David was playing on words. Purdy damn good.
52:13 Marc No, he spelled it differently. He spelled it differently. So in all seriousness, Purdy played well last year. But he's got to prove it. He's not going to surprise anybody this year. Exactly. Teams have tape on him and we'll see how he does.
52:30 Steve And I agree with you. This is his year. I think if he if he struggles and he looks terrible, which he will and he will struggle. But if the 49ers can still win, then you'll say, wow, they've got a really good defense. You won't be saying that Purdy is pretty good. Yeah.
52:46 Chris He says in reference to the Tebow comments, so he kneels and prays after every score. And Jeff says he thinks the Steelers I'm having trouble with my comments. They're going to win. Opening. Yeah. That's what Jeff. There we go. I think Steelers went opening day and then Oh my Tebow versus Purdy. That's as exciting as Cliff Stout versus Mark Ballo. Those were lean years. All right. So where that's coming from for me is I just watched the series. I actually have about 10 minutes left. The Gators.
53:18 Marc Yeah. I watched it too.
53:20 Marc Swamp. Interestingly enough. Now here's the I found it.
53:23 Steve Do you do you watch it, Steve? No, but I intend to. No, but I will.
53:26 Marc I found it entertaining. Yeah. But what's really interesting is that in doing a little research on it kind of afterwards, it's just getting slammed. Is it really critics just slammed seriously that they're just basically like there's barely any mention about all the horrible things that happened there when Urban Meyer was head coach. Like all they all they had was Urban Meyer saying like, you know, it's really hard. I mean, this guy got arrested like one guy, but they don't tell you that 31 players were arrested when he was here. They make it look like one guy when it really was half the team. So you're right. So it's really it's really like getting slammed by the critics. But I did think it was fun. You know, like I thought it was, you know, it's a throwback to the old days. Like, you know, to be honest, it was almost like pledging a fraternity, that football team. Sure. You know, in the weight room, even Tim Tebow is looking like an animal. Yeah. Just, you know, lifting weights and competitive about anything, everything.
54:27 Steve That's kind of the way I felt about the Manziel one. Like, yeah, like I just felt like he was an idiot. Like, I mean, I felt like the Browns did him wrong. Don't get me wrong. And it felt like he was trying to do something different in Cleveland. And he did get them a playoff win. But he's just an idiot. Well, yeah, he just doesn't know how to be a person.
54:53 Chris You know what I mean? Going back to going back to the Florida Gators one, the Swamp Kings, the Urban Mire. This is this was my my opinion, or this is what jumped out at me when I started watching it. Of course, the first question was, I wonder if they're going to get to the Jaguars debacle. And then very quickly you realize, oh, no, they're keeping this just to Florida. Well, they're going to give you five seconds of that at the end. Oh, no, I actually I just remembered I did. I did finish it. I saw that they give you five. Yeah, he was fired after right in the middle of a season. Right. But what I was thinking about when when they had Meyer on, when they would interview him and he would talk, all I could think about was I think that this is somehow almost like a like a paid infomercial. Right. We're trying to repair Urban Myers reputation.
55:48 Marc Did it come off like that?
55:49 Marc Oh, yeah. Like it's for another coaching job. It's like you're supposed to come away thinking like, you know, he's really not that bad. He cared about the kids.
55:58 Steve Yeah. Yeah. Well, I can't wait to watch it now because I know about his background and he is a horrible man.
56:05 Chris Yeah. Yes. And they do not. They do not. That way, she may not at all. Then I probably will hate it, but I'm going to watch it anyway. Well, it really wasn't it wasn't like you could hate it because they did. They do a great job. Yeah. What do you think about those of making him series him look like almost you can you're like almost sympathetic when he starts to talk about the pressure that he was under, which I can totally see. I mean, of course, you're coaching a major, you know, the SEC.
56:34 Marc That's the that's the expected the win. You're the crown jewel of college football seasons over. Right. Yeah.
56:40 Chris Right. I can I can see that.
56:42 Marc Yeah. But it's it's definitely and I mean, to me, to be honest, I found it more interesting, like even though it was really about Urban Meyer, although they sort of played as it's about the Florida Gators, I actually thought I learned a lot about Tim Tebow, which is which is which was interesting because I didn't really know a lot about him other than his brief stint in the NFL.
57:03 Chris Right. And and I actually thought that it made Tim Tebow look good. Oh, yeah. You know, like like everybody was criticizing him because like he's he's too much God in his life. Right. And all that kind of stuff. Tebow is a good guy. And it was like, yeah, the way he talked about wasn't a great quarterback. That's well, he was a great quarterback in college. Yeah. He was unbelievable. But yeah, once he hit the NFL, you know, his skill set just didn't transfer.
57:28 Steve So he's the anti Purdy is what you're saying. Um, the exact opposite of Purdy. Well, what I'm saying is that, well, if you watch except that one game he played against the Steelers and knocked them out, if you watch the Swamp Kings, what I'm
57:42 Chris saying is Tim Tebow kind of took college football by surprise. So I think Brock Purdy is going to take the NFL by surprise. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. You know, I don't I don't ever guarantee that I'm going to be right. You know, well, you're wrong. I get you. I understand.
57:59 Steve You're really wrong. We're used to you being wrong. So let's just keep it there. OK, I'm tired.
58:05 Marc That's all we got for you, fans. All right.
