Welcome to the Beaver Lodge!

Episode 480 Mon Sept 30 - 2024

On Episode 480 of our show, we believe that every day is a good day for Truth and Reconciliation so we have a series of stories related to the Indigenous Community. The Final Report of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission included 94 Calls to Action, 76 of which are the responsibility of the federal government, either alone or in partnership with the provinces and territories. As of January 1, 2024, according to Indigenous Watchdog, 11 of those Calls to Action are COMPLETE and 39 are IN PROGRESS. Of the 65 Calls to Action that the government claims are well under way – excluding the 11 that are complete – 13 are NOT STARTED and another 13 are STALLED (https://www.indigenouswatchdog.org/2024/01/18/canada-says-that-85-of-the-trc-calls-to-action-are-either-complete-or-well-under-way-really/).

We also talk about:

* Residential School Denialism

* Phyliis Webstad: Orange Shirt Day

* Marsha Anderson: Canadian Medical Society Apology to Indigenous Peoples

* Joyce Echaquan

* Leah Gazan: C-413, Outlawing Denialism
