Cuốn hồi ký của cô, The Sacred Willow: Four Generations in Life of a Vietnam Family, kể câu chuyện về chiến tranh Việt Nam dưới góc nhìn của một gia đình Việt Nam.

Cuốn hồi ký của cô đã được đề cử cho giải thưởng Pulitzer năm 2000.
