As an openly gay immigrant from Việt Nam, Hoàng is proud to be appointed by Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass to serve on the Los Angeles City Civil and Human Rights Commission.
He was also named one of the National Association of Asian Pacific in Politics and Public Affairs' 40 Under 40.
