377 - Daniel Nguyen + Katherine Lam - Why Representation Matters

Daniel Nguyen, originally from the Pacific Northwest, made history as the first person of color on the City Council of Lake Oswego, Oregon, and currently serves as an Oregon state legislator for the 38th district.

Katherine Lam, who immigrated from Vietnam at age thirteen, holds influential roles as a commissioner for the Port of Portland and board member for the Oregon Business Council. Katherine was just named Restaurateur of the Year by the Oregon Restaurant & Lodging Association.

Daniel Nguyen and Katherine Lam are the husband and wife team behind Bambuza Hospitality Group, a small family business that has grown into a successful restaurant and retail management company with locations in four states.

Beyond their restaurants, Daniel and Katherine actively engage in the local community and state governance, helping to create pathways to quality jobs, education, healthcare, and housing.

Daniel and Katherine are 2024 inductees into the Asian Hall of Fame, marking them as the first Oregonians to achieve this honor.
