AFTERWORDS: Thrillers Are Back with Crumb Catcher Director Chris Skotchdopole

AFTERWORDS: Thrillers Are Back with Crumb Catcher Director Chris Skotchdopole
Listen, when Producer Pete and I pulled up to the Alamo NYC, we had no idea what the hell a “Crumb Catcher” even was.

The cast, crew and even Larry Fessenden popped in for some fried pickles (which I wish I had ordered). It really felt like a family and friends screening. We got to be a fly on the wall for a very special event.

Crumb Catcher really knocked my socks off and I think it’s one of the best films I’ve seen of 2024. The reason that this happened was because there was a very talented young man at the center of it. Director Chris Skotchdapole.

After the screening, when Chris came into the studio for the interview, I didn’t know what to expect. You don’t wanna meet your heroes. They can be assholes or weirdos. I mean, of course you can be a weirdo or an asshole and make great movies.

However, this wasn’t the case. I feel like I found a kindred spirit in Chris. He reminded me of so many guys that I grew up with. Just cool to hang out with and talk about shit. This is the guy that you want to pass you the blunt or the joint in the cipher. Not only did he make a fantastic movie, but I think that I made a friend.

We were ripping ZYN and talking about how we feel like Kanye is crazy but he’s a great artist. I think we really bonded over so much of the things that we’re both into. Roman Polanski might be notorious, but you can never take away that he’s a fantastic filmmaker. Chris and I both agreed, Polanski is a master. Once I realized how much Roman’s movies had influenced Chris’s sensibilities it all made sense.

I feel like there’s very few people that I’ve met that are truly destined for greatness and have a future in the film industry. Let me tell you, Chris Skotchdapole is the one to watch. I don’t wanna jinx it, but I think he’s gonna have a very special career. There’s a way that he sees the world that is unique and exciting. I wanna see him make more movies and I’ll watch every single one of them. One: because I know they’re gonna be great, and Two: I made a new friend.
