I consumed more alcohol in my first 2 years after college than I did during my entire 4 years on campus. I drank (and smoked, and isolated myself) because I felt like a failure.
Not only was I ashamed of the way my football career turned out, I was also struggling to figure out what I was going to do next.
As time went by, it became clear to me that I was going to have to stop trying to escape my reality, and start changing it.
I’m not a rich man by any means (yet), but I can honestly say that I love the life I’ve created for myself today. I get to help others overcome the same internal battles that I was fighting just a few years ago.
I recorded this video after a coaching call with one of my recently graduated student-athletes.
We talked about the difference between a “reset” and an ”escape”. I figured the message would resonate with more than just former athletes, so I decided to share.
Hope it inspires you to take action!
