67. "Elevated Expectations" w/ Founder & CEO Jonas Rousseau

Jonas Rousseau is a visionary high school football coach and nonprofit owner adamant about changing his community. Raised in an underserved community, Jonas became aware at a young age of the role resources played in a child’s development. Jonas founded Elevated Expectations in 2013 as a way to empower young people in his native Brownsville community with resources and skills needed to make informed decisions pertaining to their future. Elevated Expectations has received recognition from the Brooklyn police 73rd precinct council for its work in the community. Jonas received a football scholarship from Stony Brook University and in 2012 graduated with a degree in sociology. He then jumped into the field of social work as a case manager for foster children and after 2 years of service went on to teach 8th grade history at an all boys charter school in Brooklyn. In the mornings he now arrives at a local high school where he prepares athletic and leadership sessions for students. In the evening, he designs programming for youth that happens throughout the summer and is open to children in all five boroughs. Jonas currently resides in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, his experiences growing up in Brownsville has driven his passion to serve the youth in this community.
