We are live. Hello,
wizards, witches, and any mobiles that somehow
found its way onto the stream. Let me just say I may be wearing
green, but if you are a muggle, you are welcome on this stream. I am
Annie Key Ruggles. I am the host of too legitimate to quit,
instantly actionable small business strategies
with a pop culture spin, and welcome you to the very
first maybe annual, maybe not,
maybe 1 time, maybe monthly. Who knows? But
Hogwarts House strategy, Smecton.
I am so excited. This event has been
in the making a long time. But when
I first locked eyes with this gorgeous,
gorgeous Ravenclaw down here, Caitlin Penny. We
fell deeply in love immediately with each other's strategic
brains and thought, wait, what do we have in common? We're
both Harry Potter dorks. And then I asked
the follow-up question that I asked all Harry Potter dorks,
which is, do you care if I bash Jay or JK Rowling to death
in front of you? Because I will. But yes, I'm going
to introduce all of our panelists in just a moment, but I want to
let you know that, yes, today it is Pride Month, and
we are fundraising for the transgender
law center. Right now is an absolutely terrifying
time to be trans in this world, especially in America. There
are literally new legislations passing every day,
and it is not a political issue. It
is a human rights issue. People are being victimized for
living as themselves. They're being denied. Life changing
and lifesaving healthcare and mental health services, and that
simply cannot happen. So the transgender law center is out in
front fundraising for people
who need it most, the people who are actually in the courtroom
protecting people from this legislation. So throughout. If
you enjoy what you're seeing, then freaking fantastic.
Please make sure you show us that by donating in your
house's name. To the transgender law
center, and you can find that donation right here in the
corner up above our beautiful Gryffindor speaking
of our beautiful Gryffindor, look at that, 3 Vienna
whites just rose to my aid. Speaking
of, I would love to introduce
someone that I have known and loved for 13
whopping years now even though she is my
rival in Hogwarts, she is my love and my
heart or 1 of, you know, a few. But Meredith, we
stop at Duloc live from the Airstream. What state are y'all in
today? Yes. Oh my gosh. Love you 2, girl. Okay.
We are in Oregon. So, yeah, we're just
outside of Portland. It's a beautiful, beautiful day, so I had to take
advantage and sit outside here in front of the artistry. Wow.
Hello, Portland. And, Meredith, have you always
known that you are Gryffindor?
Yes. Is that gonna be a question? Okay. Yes. I have
always there's there isn't no other house other I mean, there are, because
technically there are 3 more. But there's only
1 option as far as I'm concerned. So the answer to your question is,
yes, I have always done. That that was a little
pink, though. I just wanna Does the sand fall out over
there? And then there's the half of them. That's a nice thing.
There we go. Yeah. And there's the Hufflepuff
y'all. The 1 that rushed you be like, okay. We're getting a little
antagonistic. Let's be more inclusive. All
the way over at the state of Indiana, we have our proven now,
Hufflepuff. FibroGold better. Hi, Iris.
Hello. Irisy's dog, Skylar, will also bark
occasionally throughout this broadcast. Piper. And we
have oh, it's Piper. And we have decided that Piper
is Slytherin. But
yeah. We'll see we'll see who makes more money today. We'll see
who raises more money for the trade that it was on our end. And
last but never least, the house I thought I was but
am not. And the inspiration for this whole event, the
Ravenclaw, Caitlin Penny. Hi.
Mine would a beautiful sweater you're wearing. Thank you.
She's the only 1 in, like, Again, here's my black and
yellow. It's a bag. But, you know -- We're representing in our own way.
Each and every 1 of us but we all know that the true magic is,
you know, within or something like that.
Alright, gang. So here's how this is gonna roll. We
are gonna have a hot seat during
which we are going to try to convince you out there
that our house may the best business
strategist, but I've also compiled this crew together
because we specialize in different things. So hang out with us for the
next 40 minutes or so, and we're gonna attack your business in
4 different loving, benevolent ways. So which is
wizard's muggles. We're so glad you're here, and we are so excited to
be raising money for transgender law center.
Alright. First question. Little icebreaker,
speed round. Here we go. We have all
become employee strategists, contractors,
We're we're 10 90 nines. We're not w 2. We have all become
magical 10 90 nines. Maybe w nines. Alright. Never
mind. It doesn't matter. Of a
of a Diagon alley business,
which business Are you most excited
to give a leg up, Meredith?
The bookstore because without the bookstore, I mean, how
are you gonna just keep learning and just keep growing and
learning and just keep on doing more. You gotta you gotta get that bookstore in
there. Ravenclaw answer for a Gryffindor but I'll allow it.
I'll allow it.
Iris, where you work in oh, she's pounding. That's very Harry Potter of
you. Only Gryffindor's house right now. Very pouted for 3
frigid books. Iris, what business are you looking
forward to jump back into? The bond store. Oh, all
of Anders. Because the the wands choose
their people, their wizards, right? And they are all
inclusive because, you know, IT'S VERY
IMPORTANT FOR EVERYBODY TO BE ABLE TO GO TO 1 PLACE AND GET ALL OF
THE THINGS THAT THEY NEED THAT ARE GOING TO SERVE THEM. ALL THE THINGS THAT
THEY NEED, BUT ONLY WIFE I would steer clear about
sheer. I just said sheer. I would steer clear of all the
vendors because everybody only needs 1 1. Where's
the lifetime value on that? What? Because if you
want breaks, you have to go back and get another escrow. And you can
refer business. I mean, I'm just saying That's true. So Iris is going
into the wand monopoly. Alright, madam Ravenclaw.
Which business are you looking forward to jumping in? Zankos.
Okay. Why? Because
Ravenclaw's love puzzles and problem solving, so Anne
is 1 hell of a cool brand. I remember I actually
designed something in college that was Zonko's inspired product packaging, so
I'm all in. Well,
meanwhile, over here in Potions Town, I'm going with the Potions
Star because they'll make you either hacks. They're
little hacks. You gotta adjust them. You gotta do the work. You gotta take them.
They're not just a spell. You gotta take them. You gotta do the work. But,
yeah, over here, I'd be rocking out some potions, and helping them come up with
maybe some nice gift bags of complementary potions
that go together and solve a particular problem.
But Yeah. Alright. Speed round. I'm seeing
that people are out there scanning back to our code, hot
glass. Yes, they are. Thank you. Thank you so much. We can't We
we can't see, but we can see that you're scanning. So if you're there
-- Yes. -- drop us a chat, drop us a caption. We'd love to know
you're here hanging out with us. Represent your house proudly, and
thank you. Thank you. Thank you for standing away. Mhmm. Thank
you for attending. Yes. What did you say? Right?
You said? It is a snack galley, sweetie.
We got what we asked for here on Alright.
So here's how this is gonna go
next. I'm going to take a volunteer
from my panel of 3. Him.
Oh, hi, Wendy Sonneker. Caitlin is first. Wendy Sonneker, I love
you. Come on in and represent your house. Caitlin,
now some people may assume they know the
answer to this. They're like, yeah yeah, they're the brainy ones. They'd
make good strategists. Cousin. But, Caitlin,
what is the Ravenclaw approach to business or how can
we grow business in a Ravenclaw like
manner? Well, I would say that Ravenclaw's are very
woody. And intelligent. So a lot of problem
solving and strategy within that business arrangement.
I did take notes. It's fine. Ravenclaw status over here. I
did prepare for this, but a lot of creativity and
individual individuality
within the whole entire process, which just equals being authentic.
And authenticity is a really big part of what you
do over at Copper Theory. Right? You are
a full stop marketing, but got a real visual
element, got a real showcasing element branding. So
what, as a Ravenclaw draws you to the art
of branding, and what can we learn about branding
from Ravenbloss? Well, I always kind of wanted to be
in the brand world. It was more like challenge accepted because when you
go get your green design. They say logo development is the hardest
thing to do. So, naturally, I was like, that's the thing that I'm gonna do.
And I get to draw and do stuff all the time with
illustrations, and I just really like it because nothing is the
same. There's always a variety.
So it has been argued that perhaps
our beloved Hermione Granger should have sorted into
Ravenclaw, but instead chose to sort into Gryffindor.
Do you think Hermione made a mistake in that choice? And do you think
that she would be good at branding business this?
I think that she didn't make a
mistake because I think her personality
and her goodheartedness totally points more toward being a
Gryffindor. But nerdiness, books, She's
got it, so I don't know. I think we had this conversation, but do you
believe in half houses? Yeah.
And that's the thing is I don't know. I'm I'm great on half
houses. I love half houses and I got yelled at, but then I found out
I was in the wrong house entirely. And the half houses, claim weren't even my
house. But what I do believe is in the rights of
transgender people to get the healthcare and love and
services and mental health that they need. And the way that we make sure that
happened is we donate in the corner. Get it. Scan
that. Donate in the corner. For the transgender lawsuit group.
Clan. Hi, Glenn. Hi, Glenn.
So Caitlyn, that was Hi, Glenn. I don't know. You fine.
Me neither. Oh 0, another another scan. Another scan on that
QR code. Thank you so much. Yes. So, Caitlin -- Thank you. If
I want to revamp my brand with
some Ravenclaw flare, how might I
be inspired and lean into the witticisms
and nerdery that rules that world? I think
an easy answer would be jewel tones. And then,
you know,
just taking an intellectual approach to everything in
the design. So make it give it a little something, a
little it thing that not necessarily everyone has to know, but something in
that logo that means something, whether it's 8 services and 8 branches of a tree
or Just just have a little secret thing in your logo.
So for example, how did copper theory get its name?
My last name is Penny. Where are you at
the club?
And I didn't wanna put Penny in anything because people think they're getting stuff for
free. So, copper theory. Freaking love it. I adore
it. Alright, rebuttals, Meredith Iris,
do you want to argue that your house is
better at visual branding
or the marketing that underlies visual branding than a rate
of loss.
See, I think for house Hufflepuff, I don't know if it's necessarily
a rebuttal, but -- Gotcha. -- you know, hey, there's he isn't
way. Okay. No problem. Much to
say.
Take it easy. Okay. My wife is not listening to this, but I'm on
Hufflepuff. You know, there was, like, an argument that I might be part Griffin Dork.
I'm definitely yeah. I mean, I think that I love what you just said
about, you know, including if there were 8 services, have, like, 8 tree
branches. I think that's really, really cool. And for you know,
for Hufflepups and I have my notes, you know, here as well, like we
believe in, you know, creating engaging
and, you know, inspirational and intentional
content. Right? Because we wanna be all inclusive. So
we always come from a place of all inclusive. So our websites, for instance,
are always ADA compliant. Because we don't want to
leave anybody out because we shouldn't.
So this has nothing to do with design per se because we actually
choose functionality over Oh, the half of that shoes is
fucking let me help right now right now. Right now, right now, right now, right
now, right now.
If you choose design over functionality, your site can load
very slowly. And then you're losing a lot of Google traffic.
But if you choose functionality with, you know,
design, but choosing more functionality than design, your
site will load faster and Google like you better. True. Meredith,
any branding rebuttal from our lioness
Yeah. Because I think, you know, we're very chivalrous over here in
the house of Gryffindor, aka the best house
counting out of Wait a minute. That's a big
that is a great
There's there's 4 houses. There are other houses, but, like, why would the main
character be from that house for, like, Okay. And
then I've asked you if you had a branding rebuttal call.
Because? Okay. Yes. Go ahead. Because Jake will
what the fuck -- Coming back coming back to the point at hand.
Yes? But ain't no show. -- very big in the house
of of Gryffindor. Yes. So so you go ahead and then scan that QR
code because what for what I'm about to say here, 1 point there for Gryffindor.
Yes. Mhmm. I'm thinking I'm interpreting
this chivalry, okay, as, like,
creating you know, operating with integrity and creating trust
Right? And all of that's gotta come through in the branding. Like, if it doesn't
come through with the branding, right, how are you attracting your clients? How
right? So I'm just saying. Point for different way. And fight
for Gryffindor. And, you know, I am gonna do the
exact opposite of what people expect this Slytherin to do, and I'm
gonna unite us together. And I'm gonna say, for the ideal
visual brand, you wanna be innovative, which is a Slytherin house,
straight, But here's how you're gonna be innovative. You're gonna
bring your own specificity with your own quirk and
your own witticism so you don't blend into the crowd. You're
gonna keep in mind accessibility and inclusivity, and you're
gonna take a stand while you put yourself out there. And you're
gonna make sure that your brand is warm and foster stress so
that you can turn the innovative
No. This
just full closure, this this livestream is also
therapy for me who identified as Ravenclaw. My
entire life until everyone around me was like, your glasses are
green. Your office is green. You will only wear green.
Girl get it together. And I was like, no, I'm not a Malfoy. I'm
not racist and horrible. And I'm like, nor do you want? And I'm like,
oh, that's right. No. I'm only actually hateful
toward blind Slytherin. Gonna
some hate mail on that. But, yes, this is this is the process
of of healing and owning my Slytherin identity. Now,
from Ravenclaw and visual branding. Let's go behind the scenes. We
talk front a house for a minute. Let's talk back a house. Meredith, I'm
coming to you. Meredith, has a background
in education. Meredith was basically my
own personal McGonagall for a very long time.
But chose not to pursue Dumbledore ness and to
leave higher ed, to become CEO of Coach Jennie,
which she now runs with her wife, the aptly
named coach Jenny. But Meredith, the
education side of things, the systems and the
processes I know are so sexy to you, whereas
those don't necessarily seem bold or showy or very liony,
but Why can Gryffindors
build the strongest businesses?
Well, because I tell you so the systems thing is really
underlying all of that. Right? Because it allows the space
for all those other traits to shine through. Right? So if you've got
things up and running, I can really like, let's okay. So for me, right, you
gotta have a lot of courage when you're building a business. You have to. Right?
Like, it's scary. It's terrifying. Like, you're stepping
into the unknown. Right? But if you kinda have your little underlying systems
ready to go, there's safety and security in there. Right? So then
you can afford to have courage and to be brave and to show up,
you know, in other areas. So I kinda look at it that way of,
like, putting all these things in place and processes in place
allows me to really step into the
kind of entrepreneur I need to be to run my business with a Gryffindor spin.
Oh, to emerge from the closet under the stairs
victorious, Exactly. And take on the world.
Uh-huh. Yeah. Oh. But
Yay. Right? It's Caitlin. Right? I'm just kidding. Yay. I
mean Yes. And I feel like
the systems really help with the we've seen
Griffin Door penchant for pounding,
which is also so clearly exhibited in our protagonist mister
Harold Potter, but also in Meredith
previously. So, no, I think you're right. I think if you are worried about the
emotional tumbled Back yourself up with
some bravery. Give yourself some big bowl systems, and you'll have
less to about about for 2 and a half bucks. Exactly. Right?
And, like, we're we're, you know, we're we're very we're very determined
over here in Gryffindor too. Right? And so that is
not like, that just goes without saying. Right? So there's challenges
come up and being an entrepreneur. We're gonna make our way through it, and
we're gonna do so because we got the foundation that we can rely I
love it. Caitlyn, Iris, any rebuttals on your house
building stronger businesses? I'm a
half a month. I'm not gonna say this 1. 0 my god.
Again, the Hufflepuff says, I don't know if that's a rough bottle. Go,
Huffle, and then will that Caitlin properly rebut? No,
Caitlin, go ahead. Well, actually, I was gonna go ahead and say that being a
Ravenclaw is very accurate for me because you have integrators and you
have visionaries, and I am not an integrator, and I know
that. So the wisdom coming from Ravenclaw allows
me to hire people like Meredith to figure out the processes and this is
because it's not my thing. 0 percent.
Yes. Yes. So next why The business
duo would be a thing. Yes. Yeah. So it's called
a collaboration because Hufflepuff's busy.
I mean, I'm just saying, but to to speak
to the systems piece, I had a meltdown last
Friday. Why, Anna? Because everything was broken.
We didn't have systems in place. No systems. No systems.
Right. But exactly. So it's not a rebuttal. It is all about collaborating,
and working together to build a strong business because you need strong
visuals, you need systems,
and you need accessibility. And all of these things
working together And I'm not to leave
any out with, you know, I'm sorry. It's fine. You can leave me out.
Everybody else says it was the bad guys. It's fine. I love
your motherfucking love. I I need the
houses working together, I think, build
probably the strongest business out there. Because all of our
traits are what every single business needs. This is a
smack down to your pub. We're fighting.
Right. But I think that's I just back there to single Like, collaborative
thing, not 1 or the other. Right. Well, Slytherin
is the best in systems.
No. Quite new Gryffindor on this 1, but I still just have to defend my
people. Because we are the most
driven. And when you're driven, you do stuff that you
don't wanna do sometimes because Got to. So you
gotta build your systems and sort of save through. But, yes, if you need systems,
I'll I'll give that point to to the grips. Meredith,
yes, give it to the Because when the Hufflepuff stuff broke it, she came out
to the Slytherin. Both of us had a little bit of a panic attack that
could have been avoided. With a Ravenclaw or a GIF. Like, I'll give them
that. I'll give them that if we're using our own businesses here as fodder. I'll
give them that. I think that also Slytherin would have a lot of
resources to offer. See see? Many, which she
did. So -- Which I have a whole
Oh, we know. Oh, we know.
Oh, my gosh. So Meredith, so systems
grounding, bringing it all together, I love the idea that we're
utilizing the bravery every day. But those systems are
giving us room to grip better, to live to
grip another day. Yes. Handle it.
I can't do it. That's pretty much it. Alright.
Well, now for the least confrontational part of the evening,
We go to our beloved puff. Hold up your toe bag puff.
With our beautiful yellow and black branded puff
toe bag. Iris, why do the
tenderhearted and loyal? Make the best
business strategist? Because I think
that when we work with our clients,
we have their best interests at heart, and we want to
be all inclusive. We want everybody to
so right now, So I'm just gonna throw, you know, the quiz out
there. We're doing a quiz so people can see
are they being inclusive enough Right? Is their website working
for them? Are they gonna bless you? I'm sorry. Yeah. Go on.
Or whoever bless you. Dumbledore bless
you. Oh, God bless you. Thank you. It's the best
kind. But but so we're doing the quiz.
And, you know, it helps people see are they being compliant?
Are their sites accessible? How are they, you know, are they working for them?
And We want them to work for them by being
accessible to everybody because if somebody is
visually impaired, somebody, you know, has seizures. You don't want them to go
to your website and have a seizure. You don't want somebody who goes to your
site to not be able to dwell. I mean, it's a thing. People are getting
it's a thing. Right? If somebody has ADD
here -- Yeah. -- you know,
there's there's a a widget that you can put on the site that actually
kind of sections everything up so that you're very focused on what you're
doing and you don't get squirrel. So there's a lot of
things with the accessibility and
inclusion piece. And, you know, speaking of inclusion,
you should donate. Just, you know, scan the QR code in
the corner and donate to our cause today
because this is so important. There were
trans kids out there in states that have a, don't say gay
law, that their teachers have to out them to their parents. If they're not
in the safe house, really bad thing gonna happen. So please donate donate
donate and help these kids. And their parents, a lot of the parents
can be tried for child abuse now for looking for health
care for their kids. It's it's nasty
all over. So, yes, thank you, Iris. In the name of equity and
inclusion and love and Hufflepuffias. Get in there,
grab that QR code and donate donate donate. Grab that QR code. You know?
Yes. And take a quiz. And take Iris' quiz. But the other thing
that I think is coming up for me when it comes to Hufflepuff is the
idea of brand loyalty. Right? Now 1 way to keep
everybody there is to be inclusive. But Iris,
how do you think brand loyalty plays out in the long
term longevity? Of a business. And I think
that when people learn to trust your brand, they're gonna
keep coming back to it. I had a really good
example when we first moved here,
and it's also brand recognition. So it's loyalty, it's recognizing it
and knowing that when you see that brand, you know their reputation, so
you're gonna use them. When we moved here, we needed a cleaning company.
And all that I could remember was it was green and white. They had a
name, it was green and white, and it was happy something. Well, it was Merry
Maids. It was Mary Mays was the green and white and they
have this great reputation of providing really great
housecleaning services and they have a loyal following. Same
thing with probably all of our businesses. Right? Like, people see our
business. We have loyal customers because they know that we give them
the service that they need that we provide for
them. So I think brand loyalty goes a long way. And it's
something that will last for years as long as you're in business, as long as
you do it right. And in order to do it right, I think you have
to be determined and be able to push your way through. And I think you
have to have really good brand visuals for people to
have the recognition. And then you need to have the right systems in
place for everything, you know, to work. So She's
Hufflepuffing again. She bringing it all together. So beautiful.
Yeah. Yeah. Go ahead, Katelyn. I was just gonna say people buy based off of
emotion and then justify it later too. So that's pretty puffy
puffy. Right? Yeah. But loyalty, I think, you know, I
think there's something to be said for all That's where the loyalty comes in because
they feel that they can trust you. You. So it's just like knowing,
liking, and trusting your brand. Right? And that's I think that's so
totally true because people wanna feel seen, and they wanna feel like if
they're making an investment, they're investing in someone who's investing in them.
And it's not just a transaction to them. Right? I say all the time that
sleazy sales are a great way to get a sale 1 time. But
you're not gonna get the repeat sale. You're not gonna get that lifetime value. Right?
So it's actually more advantageous to innovative,
more stable, more all the things to lean into that loyalty
piece because so many people are spending so much time going
on getting new eyeballs, new eyeballs, new eyeballs, that's like if Hogwarts is
bringing in new students and not worrying about the students they already have.
Right? Like, they got owls coming up. They gotta take their test. They gotta
keep that ranking high. Hogwarts has to be something other than a place where
students die. Right? Like, Come on. It's it's gotta
be something more magical than that. And so that leveling and
education and yes. And speaking of that, Speaking of safe spaces, we
want you to donate please to the transgender law
center up in the corner, use the QR code and get it
done. Meredith, Caitlin,
loyalty, inclusion -- Mhmm. -- any
official stance you'd like to make from your home?
Okay. Well,
I feel like the individuality
is where I'm coming from as a Ravenclaw.
And so there's a lot of open mindedness and with
like, we've got to pay attention to all different perspectives,
especially in the business that I do too, because the different point of
views make it work. And we have to understand so you understand the target market?
Yeah. A hundred percent. Oh,
so the individual and the collective. Right? We're not saying
everyone's got a meld. We're not saying everyone's got to be in the same
house. We're not saying everyone has to be pure blooded.
Freaking mouth voice. We're not saying that.
We're saying, let's show that all are welcome in our business if all are
truly welcome, and let's show through mental
acuity. Mhmm. But that's who we're talking to. Caitlin and I
freaking love it. Alright. So all along
in our final moments together today,
we want to, a, implore upon you 2,
Hey, Mary. Hey. Hello. Photos. But I
wanna break it down about why Slytherins
make the best businesses if they get out of their own way, which
is a coach study term that I'm stealing for this purpose,
which is As I've mentioned several times, I did
not identify as Slytherin and I also didn't use to identify as
an ambitious human. I
Thought Slytherin's were sleazy, possibly evil.
I thought the ambitious were greedy, potentially butt
heads. And then I realized that what I'm doing every day is
driving. And what I'm striving for is to make things
better for myself and for other people. So I asked
myself, what could it be to be a benevolent,
generous, ethical Slytherin?
And I think if done right, Slytherins can make the
best business strategist because we couple ambition with
ethics. Mhmm. We have the drives,
but we also are so keyed into how the
world is turning and where we're all moving and we're cause
based that we can do something like have a wacky
livestream with 3 of our friends and fundraise for trans rights at the same
time, right? And so how do we take the ambition,
change our mind about who it will make us change
our mind about what being slaughtered slorted sorted into
southern house means and go out and create
new pipelines, new ways of being,
new, all sorts of stuff. But I don't think
for people like me out there who have shied away from their
ambition that we're doing ourselves any service or any favors
because we feel like ambition is somehow taking away from
the whole. I am here as 1 of 4.
Proudly. I am 1 of 4 because I gathered these
4. But also I gathered these 4 because these
are 3 of the most ambitious women I know,
and 3 of the smartest savvyest business owners, I
know. And I brought this panel together today, yes so we could yell
at each other, and yes so we could raise money, but also a gas so
I could heal my bad Slytherin group when I can show you that no matter
how you identify, no matter how you
identify, You are capable just as you
are to run a wonderful business with the love
and the skills in you. No matter what the Sorting Hat says,
And the sorting hat can also be wrong
and you can choose. Right? So if you're a
half house, do it. Own it. If you're a
reluctant Slytherin or other house, own it. If you
don't even know what happens you are and you don't care about Harry Potter and
you're just here to watch us babb, then just click that QR code or scan
the QR code and donate. Right? But I'm gonna take the Harry
Potter test. I'm gonna take the Harry Potter test. Right? And then I have your
first quiz in Tano. I want you to take Iris' is your
website serving you quiz and the Harry Potter House at
the exact same time. Like, which of these scenes most resonates
and is your CTA above the fold. Right? Smash it

WWW dot is your website effective dot com? I mean, you know
What could be easier than that? Keywords? So What is your website
effective dot com? I called it smack down. And yet, we've been very
kumbaya, thanks to the addition of our beloved HUFFL, but
I I want to encourage as
our last gasp today, each of our panelists
to do 2 things. Number 1, and I
will go last as asked as for you. Number 1, I
implore you my beautiful fellow witches
to promote yourself in the manner
keeping with your house, and also to drive
1 last gasp to fundraise for your house,
in the style of your home. So we will start with
the most argumentative and that of course is our
proud lion of Gryffindor,
madam Mustafajullah, the McGonagall. Madam?
Yes. Okay.
So here's the thing. Yes?
As Gryffindors, right, as entrepreneurs, as business
owners. We're taking risks. We're learning from the risks. We're
learning from the failures. We're bouncing back quickly. We're, like,
improving our approaches. We're staying determined. We're delivering results.
We're facing big head on because there's no other way to face them
except head on. Right? And we're staying resilient.
So that's, I think, for me. If you're talking about, like, putting it all together,
for me. Right? And if you're a Gryffindor, that's what it takes, right, to
approach business as a Gryffindor. Coach Jenny likes
to say it's like the entrepreneurship, the roller coaster of entrepreneurship.
Right? And you've gotta have all these Gryffindor traits
in order to get to the end of the entrepreneur roller
coaster without puking. Right? You've got to be able to be
like you know, daring and take risks and and be
determined. And, like, it's okay if, like, your your seat belt comes off because
you're just you're just gonna put it right back on. Like right? So it's okay.
So and I think all of those things
just really to to to to go to segue into your other piece.
Right? All of those pieces really combine
to set us apart as uniquely qualified to make things
happen. Yes. You like how I did that? Yes. Right? We are uniquely
qualified, right, to make things happen. What I mean by that is we're taking
ideas, like, in reality. Right? This, like, ambiguous, like, nebulous
stuff. Turn it into reality, turn it into an action
plan, and then attack it with gusto. Yes?
So if you are if you're looking, right, for that, like, maybe
you've got, like, A99 million thing, like, to do list don't
know which way is up and you don't know what to tackle on a Tuesday,
come join us over in Gryffindor, check out the make it happen method,
WWW dot coach coach jenny dot com.
Coach jenny dot com, it's there, and you can start making
all of your things sorry. So I got sidetracked. You can start making
right? Make everything happen this week, every single week after that. I
was so excited. I was watching Annie's face, and then I got sidetracked. So I
was like, there's just so much love coming from over there that I just, like,
I felt the love through the and then I was like, oh my gosh. This
is amazing. And I lost my train of thought. And coach Jennie folks,
coach Jennie dot com is JENNIE. Yes.
Thank you, Annie. Don't you put a y in it? No.
No. No y? No. Although there's a y in Gryffindor.
There is. There's no wine in Cochinie. Yes? There's no wine in Cochinie
but there is a wine in Gryffindor. Meredith,
rally your troops to go and get that QR code for us.
Let's go. Gryffindor, come on. We gotta get out there in the world. We gotta
make it happen. If our house is all about making things happen, we
gotta make things happen for trans kids, y'all. Let's go. Okay. We
gotta make it happen for them too. Okay? Not just for us. Get in
there, click that QR code. Right? We gotta have a vote for Gryffindor.
That's 1 thing. But most importantly, which is why we're all here today.
Right? Click that QR code, and please, please, please try to make
safe and healthy things happen, right, for for those that
don't have the resources to do so themselves.
That was beautiful. Give us a little lion growl, please.
I didn't I didn't practice my brow, but, you know, we got it. It's okay.
It was wonderful. Okay. I go now. To the brilliant and the
graining Caitlin. Penny, Caitlin -- Hello.
-- why don't you rally your troops and promote
yourself in the most Ravenclaw way possible. Alright. So I'm
Caitlin Penny. I'm a brand expert. I copy through creative. And
being a brand pert means that I like to have intellectual
discussions because I don't do anything
without completely interviewing you and figuring out every part of you that
is weird. So with that being said, you have to highlight
your uniqueness as a business or you can't stand out to the crowd.
I like to create you and help you become a market of 1
instead of a market of none by using creativity and innovation
within your brand. So, ultimately, we create a sense of community.
And with that community, we donate to things like TLC
because you're weird, you're unique, we love you, so Go
donate. Go Ravenclaw. That was did you
see how she promoted herself? I mean, that that
was true Ravenclaw brilliance right there. It was like
succinct, clear, emotive,
distinct and effective.
God, I love how all of us are just showing our houses this full time.
It's hilarious. Wonderful. Alright, Iris. We we need a
we need that puff puff energy now So rally your
pups and promote yourself. Get them into that quiz and into the
challenge to face their websites. Okay. So first
off, You know, I run Gas Stove
Creative. We are all in 1 marketing solution. So even
in our name, we are all inclusive. We
You know, I'm just saying. Any type of marketing
need that you have, we can provide for you.
And if we can't provide it, we have the resources for you to get
them as well. So we believe in collaboration.
But I think that really our biggest thing right now
is the quiz. Is your website effective dot com?
But but the the quiz really shows you is your web website effective
because, you know, if it's not optimized, then
Google's not going to look at it. And it's not even about SEO at this
point. It's about website optimization. So the Google actually wants to look at
your website. So you want to be ADA compliant.
You want to be we
choose functionality over design. Because people need
to have the flow of the site. They need to be able to understand your
site when they come to it instead of going, what? What those were?
You know, we pretty much lay everything out nice and smoothly.
Anybody can get around any site. And the same thing
with all of our business. We are we work with
all service based in all service based
businesses and we are all inclusive like you should be, and that's
why you need to scan that code to give love
to TLC because these kids need to
know that, you know, they're loved and that we
accept them, and they they need the same place to go.
So It's gorgeous. I feel
like I want dessert. But, you know. It that's okay. Got it.
Hope not sure. Yeah. Make us a make
yeah. 00I forgot. Caitlyn, the sigil of
Ravenclaw is actually an evil. Don't ask me why, could you make us a nice
little eagle call?
I don't even know how to do it. 4 points. Like, you
know, I got off easy with the lion. Girl, that was a bit right.
That's good. You know what I mean? And And
Iris, your your schedule
is is a badger. Would you like to make us a little
badger shitter trip for us? Honey,
if I had to give a shit. Yay. Yay. Yay. Yay.
Okay. I was wondering how are you gonna do that? I was like, that's clearly
the heart of the heart of 1. Okay.
Let me let me know. I'll bring it on hold.
Let's see. How do I wanna do this? Well, first and foremost,
Chilajitamid to Quit is your podcast that you should be
listening to every single week if you enjoy this
weird combo of business strategy and top
culture. And if you've seen yourself related in this and wanna do
something stricter in the on LinkedIn, that's where I do all of
my casting. So you 2 can get roped into something
ridiculous like this. I do, before I give my final piece, want to
thank so much women that are both my dear friends
and my collaborators and my work fam and truly
the most talented strategist in their spaces, Caitlin Bennie, merit at the
Stop at Duloc and the Iris Gold Better. Thank you so much for being my
panel today. And now Slytherins, whether you're
a a grudging Slytherin or an Owen Slytherin, let me break this down for you.
Ambition is how we get shit done. Maybe it's not bravery.
Maybe we're not the bravest, but we are the most
conniving, and we are gonna use that dedication,
that wild, and ethics. To
create surprise because people don't see that coming in ambitious
people. They don't expect generosity out of the highly ambitious They don't
expect transparency out of the highly ambitious. That's what we're gonna
give them, and we're also gonna show that we can be just as generous
as any other house. If you don't know how to
advocate for yourself in this world and feel great about it,
My aptly green book that I did not make
green on purpose, the coach you would not sell is available
at sellcoach sell dot com use the code Slytherin
or whatever the code you want, and you'll get a copy of this book, which
will help you set your selling straight so you can flourish. And, yes, the
podcast new episode every single Thursday, but
very, very much. I know I've made light of it in the past,
and I certainly haven't made light of my deep seated New Hatred JK Rowling
in the past, but let me tell you this. Slytherin is known as the House
of Disclusion. Slytherin is known as the House of Hatred.
We all deserve better. Number 1, Hogwarts doesn't deserve to have a house of
hatred. It's a magical special place where we all get to collaborate and
grow. So I am imploring all of us.
JK did not end
all of our joy when she decided to shit her own bed.
Okay? There is an amazing, amazing open letter
written by his Royal Highness Samuel Radcliffe for the Trevor project.
Explaining how we could separate Harry Potter fandom from
JK, but I don't want you to have to celebrate your
business from your ethics ever. So if you're willing to put some
of your money where your ethics are, then get up here in this
corner with this QR code and donate to the transgender law
center. It's right there and it will show the world
that you're not just in this for yourself, that you care about other people,
and you care about what bravery, wisdom, inclusion,
and ambition when couples can create. And we can all
tear down the heat who shall not be named of our own
businesses, which I think for all of us is unemployment and the life of
the film. So don't let that happen to you. I'm
Annie P. Ruggles with me. I almost said as always, but with me in
spirit as always and with me for the last 45 minutes, Meredith them
with that. Meredith was having to lock the brain Gryffindor,
Iris Goldfeder, the loving, loving, helpful,
and our brilliant genius Katelyn Penny. I'm
Annie. They're them. You're you. Please go out there and donate. Don't
forget to let us know. Where what house you're representing when you donate,
and we'll call the winner at the end of pride month. Bye y'all.
Bye. Oh, I didn't his. His.
