'Hopefully We Find a New Home': Jack Quaid Reacts to Star Trek: Lower Decks Ending at Paramount+

Actor Jack Quaid is saddened his time as Star Trek: Lower Decks' Brad Boimler is coming to an end. The Lower Decks star released a new post to his Instagram page following the recent announcement that season 5 will be the USS Cerritos crew's final animated adventure on Paramount+. In the post, Quaid wrote, "I can't begin to tell you what an honor it's been to be a part of this show and the Star Trek universe at large. I am unbelievably grateful for 5 awesome seasons with this wonderful family. I want to thank each and every person who put so much of their hard work and talent into every episode. You are AMAZING."

"Hello Lower Deckers. I’m so sad to announce that Paramount Plus won’t be moving forward with more seasons of Lower Decks. I can’t begin to tell you what an honor it’s been to be a part of this show and the Star Trek universe at large. I am unbelievably grateful for 5 awesome seasons with this wonderful family. I want to thank each and every person who put so much of their hard work and talent into every episode. You are AMAZING. The good news is that everyone who makes Lower Decks LOVES making Lower Decks. I could play Boimler for 17 more seasons. No joke. I’m serious. I love that purple-haired nerd. Hopefully we find a new home, but until then please look forward to an amazing season five (airing this fall). LLAP🖖❤️"

Quaid also commended the passion of the entire Lower Decks team, noting, "The good news is that everyone who makes Lower Decks LOVES making Lower Decks." He then confessed his willingness to voice Boimler for "17 more seasons" if given the chance, adding, "No joke. I'm serious. I love that purple-haired nerd. Hopefully we find a new home, but until then please look forward to an amazing season five (airing this fall)." In addition to voicing Boimler, Quaid got to play his ensign in live-action in the recent Star Trek: Strange New Worlds episode "Those Old Scientists," with the aforementioned Lower Decks announcement also confirming that Strange New Worlds was renewed for a fourth season.

Lower Decks will be the second Trek show to conclude its run this year, with Star Trek: Discovery currently airing its fifth season on Paramount+. Last year, Star Trek: Picard concluded its third season and, while Star Trek: Prodigy was temporarily canceled by Paramount+, rival streaming service Netflix acquired the cartoon in October, with its second season premiering sometime later this year. In addition to Strange New WorldsLower Decks' Noel Wells appeared in multiple episodes of Star Trek: very Short Trek last year, released in celebration of Star Trek: The Animated Series' 50th anniversary.
