Ready to find out what’s inside Star Trek: Section 31?
Paramount+ has unveiled the official trailer for the upcoming Star Trek spinoff movie — premiering Friday, Jan. 24, 2025 on the streamer — with Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh reprising her Discovery role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou. The trailer debuted during the Paramount+ presentation at CCXP in São Paolo, Brazil on Saturday.
In the trailer for the spinoff series-turned-movie, which you can watch above, Georgiou meets Omari Hardwick’s Alok, who offers her “a chance to get back in on the action on a galactic scale.” And she’s more than happy to kick people across the room again. But it’s not all fun and fisticuffs: They’re facing “a threat unlike anything Starfleet’s ever seen,” Alok warns.
Georgiou finds herself joining a black-ops Starfleet division of secret spies known as Section 31, along with a ragtag bunch of operatives, as we see plenty of punches thrown and plenty of explosions. “Whatever you believed your mission was, it’s worse than you thought,” Georgiou ominously declares.
In addition to Yeoh, Hardwick (Power), Kacey Rohl (Hannibal) and Robert Kazinsky (True Blood), the cast includes Sam Richardson (Veep), Sven Ruygrok (One Piece), Humberly Gonzalez (Ginny & Georgia), James Hiroyuki Liao (Presumed Innocent), and Miku Martineau (Honor Society), as a young Georgiou.
Craig Sweeny penned the movie, which was directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi, and the two served as EPs alongside Yeoh, Alex Kurtzman, Aaron Baiers, Frank Siracusa, John Weber, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth.
