This week on Turning Trauma to Triumph, Danielle speaks to Heidi Johnson, who speaks about:
- How she got ready for school on April 20, 1999. It was like any other day until she was in the library for 10 minutes, and a teacher came in and told the students that a kid had been shot. She told them to get under their tables.
- She recalls hearing the shooters say to the students to get prepared to die, and she then prepared herself to die. They were standing directly in front of the table she was hiding under.
- How she heard her friend Rachel Scott get shot, and she was the first one killed.
- How she adopted her son from Congo. Now, her son has to do active shooter training in his school.
- She has established programs that protect children who are both growing up in the sex industry or from ever entering the sex industry in South and Southeast Asia and programs that combat neonatal and infant mortality in sub-Saharan Africa.
