Your voice matters.
Hey, everyone, welcome.
My name is Kristen Chadwick and I am your podcast coach and your podcast host.
And today we are dropping into a three part series where we're going to be talking about finding your voice.
And along with this podcast episode series is going to be an accompanying journal that I have created for you and for myself to just sit down and have some time with Jesus, our creator, Holy Spirit, and just dig in.
It's going to be an opportunity for you to sit and listen and I'm really excited about it.
So we're going to dive in.
Okay, so I've been really struggling to write and record this episode because I can't say I've completely figured this out.
Finding my voice.
So how do I encourage you to find your voice?
When I struggle to find my own voice, some days it's easy to lean on other people's voices, especially as an enneagram 9.
You tend to meld well with others and their opinions and their thoughts and their stories and keep the peace.
Right?
But we all have this unique thumbprint called Our Voice.
We are all uniquely designed by a creator who had us in mind since the beginning of time.
And even though I have struggled and this has been one of my biggest questions as of late is really discovering my own voice.
It has been a sweet journey to sit here and think about this series with the Lord.
And it's really been healing and helpful for me to wrap my brain around.
What is finding your voice?
What does that look like?
Last week on my podcast, you might have heard my friend Matt Labrie.
I encourage you to go listen.
But he quoted the great Dr.
Seuss and he said, no one is more you are than you.
And there's so much truth here.
No one has lived a life as uniquely as you.
And you've grown up in the way that you have.
You've got a beautiful personality filled with quirks and strengths and weaknesses.
And as my late dad would often say, Chrissy, everyone has a story.
And some really.
Some people really have hard stories that are woven into their lives.
I would say most everybody has A hard story that you have walked through.
Some stories you have had triumphant victories, and some stories have tragic grief.
These stories that we all go through all affect us consciously and subconsciously.
And our story influences our own voice.
So as I was writing and pondering through, this is really cool because our story is so connected to our voice and it is so connected to our identity.
We have to start with where and what and who God says we are.
We all have stories of words that have been spoken over us, some more uplifting and encouraging.
And some of us have stories of wounds that have deeply affected us.
No matter what, we have the DNA of someone who is well loved, chosen, and even called a fellow in the brother and sisterhood of Jesus.
Jesus gave up everything for us to be his family and to access really our true kingdom identity.
So start asking for Holy Spirit to speak to you directly about who he has created you to be.
This is where we begin.
And it starts with the one who breathes air into your lungs on the daily and since the day that you were conceived in your mother's womb.
This is so personal to God.
Our stories, our voice, who we are, how we show up.
I was reading and studying inside of Genesis 1 the other day and going through the account of the creation, and I noticed something that I had never noticed before.
God beautifully creates the mountains, the oceans, the birds, the animals, all of nature.
God created.
It says that over and over again.
God created the day.
God created the night.
God.
God created the mountains and the birds and the.
And the animals of the land.
He created it.
He alone created.
Then in verse 26, it switches over to let us.
Father, Son, Holy Spirit.
I have.
I have noticed that where Holy Spirit and Jesus were there from the beginning of time, but here is where the shift in the.
In that spirit moment where it hits your heart afresh.
Let us make man in our image according to our like likeness right here.
What hit me was that it states in this section that really it became personal when God made you in your mother's Womb.
In Psalm 139, it became personal.
So God created all of these things.
Then, you know, you look outside your window right now I'm looking outside my window and it's snowing.
He created the ability for it to snow, to rain, to have worms come up out of the ground when it rains for the food, for the birds.
That's incredible.
He created that.
But I love that there's intentionality in the Word where it says, let us make man in our own image according to our likeness.
He involved The Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit, God and one.
It was a team effort and it became personal.
He personally designed you.
He knit you together.
Friend, I know that I have the honor to be inside of your head right now.
And I hope you hear this truth that he created you, personally designed you, and he has made this personal.
The Trinity has made this personal.
Not only is it personal, but it also says at the end of this chapter, in Genesis, God saw everything that he made.
And behold, it was very good.
And he validated it completely.
The Greek word right there.
And what I learned for very good means muchness good.
I love that so much.
So if God has made you and called you muchness good, and he has walked with you since the beginning of the time when he knew you would come in this year, in these years when, when sometimes we question what, what is happening in my life.
But he has created you.
He has made you.
He has called you muchness good.
And he has walked with you your entire life.
Whether you knew him or you knew his presence, he has been there all along.
He has never left you.
He has never forsaken you, ever.
And now until forever.
And he is the source of our understanding of our true identity, our kingdom identity, our capital T, truth identity.
This is where our real anchoring comes in.
One of the most beautiful prayers around identity is from Augustine.
Grant Lord, that I may know myself, that I may know thee.
David Benner, another amazing author.
One of my all time favorite books, the Gift of Knowing Yourself, writes how the two go hand in hand of knowing yourself and knowing God.
And John Calvin said inside of this book, in the institutes of the Christian religion, there is no deep knowing of God without a deep knowing of self.
And no deep knowing of self without a deep knowing of God.
How intimate of an experience, you guys.
The more we get to know ourselves, our story, the more we understand who he is.
This is anchoring our identity roots us into the midst of our story.
So we're going to pause here because I want you to take a moment and I want you to sit quietly with the Creator, the One who is anxiously waiting for you to sit before him and ask questions.
You may be driving or walking or doing something else.
And I encourage you to pause and take out your journal, the downloadable journal that's down in the link in the show notes.
Or grab your own journal and put on some worship music in the background, like Bethel's without words, or some sort of instrumental soaking type of music.
Something really to allow your heart to hear and respond and be still and Know that he is God.
He loves to speak his sheep.
Know his voice.
And I pray over your time with him to be so sweet.
And if you already know your identity in Christ, I invite you to allow him to speak to you personally today.
And if you have a chance, I want you to respond to your creator.
And remember, God is love Himself, everyone.
Well, I would say a very popular passage in The Bible is First Corinthians 13, and it's all about describing love.
Love is patient.
Love is kind.
Love keeps no record of wrong.
If you read through that, just note that is describing God himself.
He is love.
And so that is the filter and the lens that we get to hear his amazing voice.
So I want you to pause and I want you to reflect on these two questions.
Who do you say God is?
First, I want you to just sit there and write out, who do you say God is?
The second question is, who does he say you are?
Who does he say you are?
And friends, we're going to start here because our identity is the very beginning, the foundation of understanding how to find our voice.
And next week on part two, we're going to dive into what is our kingdom, identity and how God personally wants to speak to you.
And I'll share a little bit about my story and my own testimony.
And I'm excited to hear from you, you guys.
I would love for you to download that free journal.
It's really beautiful.
I loved making it on Canva and I would love to hear how it's going.
If you need me to pray, if you need me to help you start this process of finding your voice, because it's really important as podcasters to know who we are, how we're showing up in the world, what has God called us to share as our message, our voice?
And I want you to know you are seen and you are heard and you are known by a God who created you long ago in your mother's womb with purpose and intentionality.
All right, take care you guys.
I'm praying for your time.
Thanks for listening today.
