Kristen Chadwick

Hey, guys, welcome to podcast coaching for Kingdom entrepreneurs.

Kristen Chadwick

I am your podcast coach, Kristen Chadwick.

Kristen Chadwick

And today is podcasting Q and a day.

Kristen Chadwick

This question that you have clicked on to get the answer is, should I add video to my audio podcast?

Kristen Chadwick

Now, this might be a question for somebody who is brand new to podcasting, or it might be somebody who has just done audio over the years and they're thinking about adding YouTube.

Kristen Chadwick

You guys, today, it is so fast paced in this ever evolving and ever changing digital landscape that we're in.

Kristen Chadwick

And many podcasters are asking that question, should I add video to my podcast?

Kristen Chadwick

And YouTube is definitely going to be that number one spot that you're asking.

Kristen Chadwick

But there's also other options.

Kristen Chadwick

There's TikTok, there's Instagram, there's Facebook's.

Kristen Chadwick

And it seems like this is a great option to expand your podcast reach.

Kristen Chadwick

But before you jump right in, it's really important to weigh the benefits and the challenges of integrating video into your podcasting strategy.

Kristen Chadwick

So this episode we're going to explore how video can increase engagement.

Kristen Chadwick

It can attract a wider audience and really offer some opportunities for content repurposing, what I like to call the content diamond.

Kristen Chadwick

So whether you're just starting out or you're looking to grow that podcast, I'm going to help you figure this out through today.

Kristen Chadwick

So number one, adding YouTube to your podcast, something that you need to think about, you can do it a couple different ways.

Kristen Chadwick

You can add it through hosting platforms like Libsyn.

Kristen Chadwick

They offer a static image where it just plays your audio and that's an easy beginner step into the YouTube world.

Kristen Chadwick

Or you can physically upload your full length interview, uh, episode or solo episode onto YouTube itself.

Kristen Chadwick

And that is another step that you can utilize in uploading your YouTube.

Kristen Chadwick

So video content right now is more engaging for, I would say, most audiences, and it can tap into both those visual and audio learners.

Kristen Chadwick

It's definitely a broader reach when you put your podcast out on YouTube.

Kristen Chadwick

But I want you to think about this, is that most people that go to YouTube and they say you own a coaching business, a christian coaching business, and your podcast is now on there.

Kristen Chadwick

They find it through either a full length episode or some shorts that you've created from your episode, and that's awesome.

Kristen Chadwick

You have tapped into the Google Slash YouTube market and you have cast the net to another broad audience and you have folded them into your podcast community.

Kristen Chadwick

Most people who have found a podcast inside of YouTube transfer over to a podcasting app because we are creatures that like to do things.

Kristen Chadwick

Multitasking, where we like to listen and go for a walk.

Kristen Chadwick

We like to listen and go do chores.

Kristen Chadwick

Most people are nothing, sitting and watching a YouTube video around, you know, coaching or some sort of business style type podcasting.

Kristen Chadwick

So just be aware of that, that most people migrate into listening to just your audio.

Kristen Chadwick

So if you have a YouTube channel but you don't have a podcast, consider that.

Kristen Chadwick

All right, so the other thing is video podcasting, right for you?

Kristen Chadwick

Is that the right choice for you?

Kristen Chadwick

And first of all, you know, I'm always going to come back to what does your audience need?

Kristen Chadwick

Do they prefer video content?

Kristen Chadwick

Maybe they do.

Kristen Chadwick

Maybe they want to sit there and watch you go through a conversation together and see graphics and, and see a tangible explanation of what you're doing or step by step process that you take them through.

Kristen Chadwick

Or is your audience, like I said before, a mom who does not have time to sit down and watch a YouTube video of an interview, but she can certainly plug in those Airpods and have a good listen while she is cleaning or picking up kids here and there or doing her exercise.

Kristen Chadwick

So again, come back to your audience.

Kristen Chadwick

What do they need?

Kristen Chadwick

And then remember too, is do you have time, do you have the technical skills to do that, or somebody to do that for you and equipment to establish a video production.

Kristen Chadwick

So again, weigh those pros and cons.

Kristen Chadwick

My biggest thing as a podcast coach is if it's going to prevent you from showing up behind the mic because you don't want to get dressed every day, you want to be in your cozy PJ's and you actually just want to press record, then awesome.

Kristen Chadwick

Stay in that lane.

Kristen Chadwick

Audio podcasting is not going away.

Kristen Chadwick

I will say that YouTube video offers a different audience to cast your net out into and to show up comfortably.

Kristen Chadwick

And it's been a challenge for me this past year.

Kristen Chadwick

It was one of my goals as a podcaster was to show up with more video, and I have done that and it stretched me and it has grown me as a podcast host and to discover that there really are opportunities out there in the YouTube space that maybe I couldn't have gotten otherwise.

Kristen Chadwick

Just this past week, I had a one on one consult with a podcaster, and she found me via YouTube shorts and watched a YouTube podcast.

Kristen Chadwick

So that's an example right there that she would not have found me otherwise unless she went to her podcasting app.

Kristen Chadwick

But she was younger.

Kristen Chadwick

Um, and I do believe if you are focusing on a younger generation, you do need to put your YouTube, uh, um, podcast or your podcast onto YouTube in some capacity, especially in shorts.

Kristen Chadwick

Cause shorts is, like, the best way.

Kristen Chadwick

It is the best way to get discovered in the YouTube world and.

Kristen Chadwick

And making sure you have the right keywords and all that.

Kristen Chadwick

And that's why hiring a team that is already skilled in that to help you with that process is going to be the biggest bang for your buck.

Kristen Chadwick

All right.

Kristen Chadwick

That's the answer to my question.

Kristen Chadwick

And again, you guys send me your questions.

Kristen Chadwick

I would love to hear from you.

Kristen Chadwick

You can go to podcast coaching for kingdom entrepreneurs, forward slash voicemail, and leave me a message of your question of the day.

Kristen Chadwick

All right, take care.

Kristen Chadwick

Have a great week.
