Being in a relationship can be difficult. Couples can become distant and disconnected when they don’t communicate effectively. All humans need to feel connected or their relationships will fail. There are ways to cultivate a long-term relationship so it can thrive. Dr. Kathryn Ford is a psychiatrist who helps couples stay open to each other by cultivating present-moment awareness. She teaches couples to shift their dynamics and turn their difficulties into stronger lasting connections. Her practice integrates neuropsychology, mindfulness, and multiple therapy models that include being attuned, having hard conversations, mood management, self-compassion, and Aperture Awareness. Dr. Ford works as a consultant with the consulting firm, Upstart Logic. She has taught in various settings, including the Stanford Continuing Studies Program, Stanford School of Medicine, Santa Clara University, and Sophia, formerly The Institute for Transpersonal Psychology.
