I’m a new listener, and a new active “follower” of Money With Katie on IG. I’m a 27 year old corporate girlie who is interested in learning more personal finance and just finance in general, and was seeking a podcast that had more conversational depth and nuance than the other millennial financial “girl boss” podcasts I was listening to. Don’t get me wrong, I love an advice episode that gives you the set up on how to invest and actionable steps on how to meet your financial goals, but I was just bored! One day I just decided to give this podcast a listen after seeing Katie post something about it on her IG stories. Fast forward a few days and I’ve already consumed about 10 episodes in a 4 days, even played some episodes at the gym because I was so interested in these types of conversations around money and the nuances of it in our American culture, and gender and different socioeconomic classes. Also generational. Each episode feels like I’m attending a crash course, or a lecture (in a good way!! I promise) on a very niche and particular subject, and Katie tackles it with so much nuance leaving a lot of room for thought. She poses questions and concepts, backed by both experts and studies. She is also not scared to be blunt about uncomfortable topics and statistics on shocking realities. She’s inclusive and very self aware of her privilege, and honestly it is so refreshing to hear. Also the sound engineering is amazing, so shout out to that team as well! If you’ve read this far, and are on the fence about listening- do it! Just pick an episode with a title you find most interesting. You won’t regret it! If anything, you’ll learn a bunch and leave the conversation with new insights and perspectives. :)
